Answer:
the long edge is finished the same as the top. The 2 short sides are not finished as they are meant to be pieced to another section or up against a wall or appliance, sink etc.. For my purposes, it doesn't matter.

I want to put it on a cabinet that is only 24" wide, so there would be a foot overhang on each end. Is it too heavy for that I wouldn't be putting heavy items on the ends that hang out.

Answer:
Robin, countertops are not typically cantilevered that distance without support, no matter what type of countertop. It would be best to go into your local Home Depot store location and discuss your particulars with a kitchen associate.

Answer:
Hello Robin,
The countertop weighs 36 pounds. If you plan to have that much of an overhang I recommend securing the cabinet down in some way. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

I need it to be cut down to 37" wide. Can that be done at the store? Can it be cut with a circular saw?

Answer:
I used circular saw that had a blade for rough cuts and it came out perfect. Run masking tape along the cut line on the laminate side, then run your line on the bottom and make you cut on the bottom.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by warped Found out the counter top was warped after it was cut. Disappointed. January 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple installation I rehab houses into rental properties. Often the kitchen countertops are in bad shape This is a low cost and easy to install replacement. These are available in varying lengths and also with factory 45 degree cuts for corner installation. Cut sink opening from the bottom using a circular saw with a plywood blade to prevent chipping the surface. Shim side to side and front to back for level. If securing with screws pay attention to the length you choose. October 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good counter Great color but splash and end piece don't fit correctly February 25, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not flat I got this to mount a laundry sink in our laundry room. I noticed it was not quite flat from front to back, being less than 1/8" lower at the center. I didn't think it was too important until I cut the hole for the sink and put it in and realized that the sink didn't sit flush with the counter at the center. I had to mount 2x4's under the counter with shims at the center to bend it flat so the sink was flush; more trouble than it was worth! It would be OK as a counter, but not with a sink... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for my plans I'm not using this in the usual way. It's precut to the perfect length and width and I have it placed over two wire shelving units to make a workbench in my crafts room. I bought a roll of cork liner to place over the surface so small beads etc. don't roll all over. It looks great. It was much easier than buying a table or cutting and having to sand the edges of a piece of plywood. February 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by was great for my worktable project this counter top was ideal for my workshop table project i set it up with shelves under for tools and things. its ver sturdy and cleans up nicely. it was hard finding a stock 4 ft. counter top and the price was right. December 20, 2012
