Customer Questions & Answers

Will the ciminea rust left outside all year long?

Asked by: Shari
the cast iron chiminea is pretty heavy duty and tends to rust only at the attaching bolts, but a can of black high temperature grill spray paint will take care of those. Having had one for 3 years now, the only thing that rusted out was the ash tray; the rest of the unit is still in great shape.

Is there a cover for this item?

Asked by: RICK
No, we use a large black heavy-duty garbage bag during the winter to extend it's life and prevent exposure to weather.

Can this chiminea be used on a composite deck?

Asked by: Patrick
Yes, there are many things that you can use that are non-flammable. Paver squares, grill mats, cap blocks. But, if you would like to dress it up a little, go to the tile section and find a natural slate tile or something that matches your decor. The unit is a little heavy so try to stay with the thicker tiles if you go that route. Remember, you are creating a fire barrier, so the larger tiles (16" x 16") or larger will protrude further around the unit. Four large tiles will work nicely.

54 in. Cast Iron Chiminea is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 188.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad overall First I knew what I was purchasing, I did my research and read the description. Purchased this afternoon, October 29th, assembled immediately and using tonight. Assembly: clear and straight forward instructions, I assembled by myself but another pair of hands would have helped. All the holes lined up close enough and assembly took about 20 minutes. One suggestion, assemble legs loose then put on heat deflector plate, then tighten legs. This will help make the legs line up square easier. Pros: Cost, not cheap but certainly not expensive Light weight, easy for one person to pick up and move. But I don't mean the metal is thin. It's more than adequate for the price. Cons: The grate is far too low. It took about 45 minutes to load up with coals and ash under the grate. This cuts down on air flow getting to the fire. Too low. If you want your shins and ankles to stay warm then this is perfect. Personally I wish the fire chamber was 6" higher. If you want a large roaring fire then this is not for you. But if you want a medium fire that's quite warm this will work fine. I only have four stars because the fire chamber is so low and the wood grate is too low. BTW I put 3 bricks under the grate to raise it up and it's been burning great for 2 hours now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS CHIMINEA This is our third such chiminea. We love having a fire almost every night (except hot summer). This chiminea allows for 360 degree viewing, with the top on, the heat radiates outward, creating a nice warmth, the mesh adds safety from shooting sparks, it elevates the fire to eye level when seated; just can't say enough good stuff about it. We've had three because all fire pit configurations, for the great amount of time we burn, will fatigue...with that said, we then re-use the top section as a pedestal to hold plants as with the bottom pan, it becomes a planter as well. It's a win-win all round.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasted 10years!!! Off to buy number 2 after 10years. So happy they still sell this model. We use it year round almost every weekend for 10 years. It sits unprotected throughout the New Hampshire winters. The ash tray did rust but we were able to fix it last year. Unfortunately a large tree landed on it during the last storm and destroyed the bottom pan and legs. I love it because we can all sit around it and enjoy the heat. It is elevated just enough so it really throws the heat perfectly. Solid cast iron construction that looks great and offered at a great price. We were very very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value in a Chiminea Purchased this to replace a steel fire pit which had rusted through the bottom after 3 years. Assembly was reasonably easy with my son's assistance. Did not experience any damaged or missing pieces as other reviewers had complained of. Chiminea is attractive and appears reasonably well made with cast iron grates and a cast iron chimney. After a couple of uses have found it works very well drawing smoke through the chimney and away from those around it once the fire heats up. It is large and heavy, and will be difficult to get into the garage attic where I typically stored fire pits in the summer. Hopefully, it will prove to offer a longer than normal useful life as other reviewers have reported.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This functional chiminea has fantastic visual appeal and durability. Perfect size & construction! The larger diameter of this chiminea is a must in searching for a functional chiminea. It is jut the right size. Other products featured only a 15 or 18 in barrel, which is not large enough to fit a log in! The construction is very sturdy and durable. Serves its purpose perfectly, especially for the price in comparing to others much smaller!
