First of all, I don't know what half of these reviewers were talking about. I almost didn't keep this lamp because of some of the inaccurate statements made on their behalf. Always try to evaluate reviews to think to yourself, "Is there really something wrong with the product or is it that the customer had a problem following directions or encountered another personal/individual shortcoming?" I found the latter to be the case.
1. It was so simple to put together: The instructions were clear and everything is labeled making it even easier. They provided easy diagrams.
2. There was no weird smell whatsoever.
3. The parts were of quality, I was able to screw them on tightly into position without any wobbling nor splitting of the wooden poles. It's very clear some didn't screw it tightly enough or went overboard. I know, because I put two together in my room.
4. It's a good amount of brightness.
5. Someone mentioned having to use "Goo Gone" to remove the stickers, they could have not even thought about these stickers if they didn't install the shelves sticker side up, I mean... that seemed like a pretty obvious move.
6. It DOES warn you not to have more than 6 pounds on the shelves. I guess people don't listen. I have mine on carpet with no problems of it looking like it'll tip over or anything.
Glad to say that I'm satisfied and you will be to. Just follow directions perfectly and apply common sense, and you'll be happy! Hope this review is helpful!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisNYC Pretty good! Easy to install and looks great!
This product delivers in a huge way. If you need a decent floor lamp but also shelves for stuff you have laying around, then this is what you need.
It took me literally 10 minutes to assemble. Here is a tip for you so you won't make the same mistake as I.
Each shelf will have a white sticker on one face. Make sure that face where the sticker is placed is facing DOWN. Because for the love of god, that sticker leaves marks and is a pain to get rid of.
I paired this floor lamp with a Cree 6w 4flow A19 bulb(the new ones)

We purchased it today and it took my husband minutes to assemble it. It's just beautiful, the shelves are great for adding pics or trinkets. For $59.00, I'm buying another one. Thanks guys.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by citymama77 Returned and gave up
We returned this lamp once and replaced it, hoping our first one was just bad luck, but the replacement had the same issue. The predrilled holes in the shelves were crooked on one of the shelves, thus leaving the shelf angled from the rest of the lamp. It's cheap and feels that way, very wobbly, fairly easy to construct but better quality comes from ikea.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by kudzu terrible odor
This lamp seemed like a perfect bedside table solution, and it probably would have been if I could stand to sleep near it.
I tend to be sensitive to things like fresh paint fumes slightly longer than others are, but I've never had a piece of manufactured furniture stay so terrible for so long. I left the pieces fully outside for a day because I couldn't stand to have them in the house, then stacked the disassembled pieces near an open window for another week before deciding to put it together.
I joke that it smells like it's made of carcinogens, but several weeks later it remains seriously unpleasant to be near in an enclosed space for any length of time. I may still end up putting it in the garage for the winter.
Which is a shame, because it really is a charming design, and was simple to assemble.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by John Very nice lamp; has it been improved??
Not sure what the fuss is about the "quality." I watched these on other sites go for as high as $99! The one I got was sturdy (although the tower shouldn't have heavy objects only on top shelf), easy to assemble, and had no cracks, drips, or other flaws. Perhaps some were over tightening the spacing rods? Just tighten them a bit after they touch the shelf and you'll be fine. If you have thick carpet, it may be easy to knock over until it settles into pile or just put something heavy on bottom shelf.
The only thing I don't like is it wasn't bright enough for our application. I got an "Y" adapter at HD ($2.50) and have two 23w curly fry bulbs. I think it's a good value.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Firewall Easy to assemble. Looks good, and is functional.
This unique lamp is easy to assemble. I think I understand how others failed at putting this together. You do NOT want to tighten down each screw like it's a spark plug in your car! Just screw in the 'beams' until they are barely tight, then turn 1/4 more and you're done!
I think what most people who have complained here did, was keep tightening the 'beams' or legs until they broke or cracked. Think about it; it's plastic and wood - not metal! You can't just keep tightening the beams until they don't spin anymore because you WILL damage them.
The bad reviews about 'cracked wood' and things during assembly must be user error.
It looks good, and it is a convenient lamp with shelves to place little things on.
I think it would be an excellent value at $40 - but at $60 it's average. Would I buy it again at $60? Yes!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NANJP Nice looking lamp, wish it worked
We were excited to find a lamp that doubled as a storage unit. It was very easy to put together. There are stickers on the wood shelves that were tough to remove (I didn't want to see them even if we installed the shelves facing down). Tip: use Goo-Gone. The vertical poles were not very high quality. We had one snap when screwing it together. It looks like other people had this issue so I don't think it was user-error. We got the whole thing assembled and found that the lighting fixutre didn't work. We tried a different light bulb but still nothing. Back to the store it goes.
