How do I attach socket ring over big glass shade to tighten in place?

The threads of socket ring won't reach to threads on light socket assembly.
Asked by: 5Bluebirds
Same thing happened to me - it unscrews and then you place the shade over the receptacle and tighten the shade in PLACE. Then put the light bulb in and you should be ready to go. But keep a spare hand on the shade just in case.

you don't get the full capability of your lamp! No safety hazard or anything like that.

The only tools needed for assembly were two light bulbs. Instructions are easy. Assembly is easy, the tubes screw together and the light bulbs screw in. A nice looking in expensive lamp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Get what you pay for. There are some good things about this products and some issues with this product but just know this, I still have it and am using is. Pros: 1 - Base weight is decently heavy which is what I was looking for. 2 - Brightness is hard to tell at store with all lights near each other, but this is very bright and top bulb uses a 3-way 50-100-150 Watt bulb with three turns of the switch for various brightness. "Reading" light is a 60 Watt and is good for even a night light in the living room. 3 - Set up is pretty straight forward as long as you do what the instructions say about the cord because each screw in section can be sharp enough to cut the cord. Cons: 1 - My base where the first straight piece connects is bent and so I put some shims under the base so the lamp looks straight. 2 - The approximately 2 inch long switches are a bit weak in construction as every time I turn lamp on and off it feels like they are going to break in my hand. I am a 250lb meathead though so that also may be why too :-). 3 - The top bulb socket on my lamp was bent in the packaging but still able to force in a bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Functional Floor Lamp This floor lamp exceeded my expectations. The secondary light is just the right height and is exactly what we needed in the den. The cost was not excessive and it is extremely stylish.

Lighting exactly fits my needs. The first one lasted a long time but had to be replaced when the switch stems came out and I couldn't get them back in. And on the one just purchased, the screw-on connection between the two middle pieces isn't congruent, so the pole is crooked. Next time I'll just ask the terrific employees at Home Depot to assemble for me when I pick up, so I'll know everything is OK. (I use a walker and the lamp is heavy, its in a room only I use, and it's crookedness hasn't diminished it's effectiveness so I will keep it as is.) I will buy again when this one wears out.

I needed a lamp for a corner of my living room and this one looks good and the price was reasonable. The only drawback is that the stem of the lamp isn't as secure secure as it should be. If you don't have to move it and it's in a spot that people don't walk by, it's fine for what it is. However, I wouldn't put it where there is foot traffic.

The first had a bent pole so I brought it back. The new one was made much flimsier and instead of glass shades it had cheap flimsy plastic ones. I was very disappointed.

In addition to price I think what sold me was that the light covers were glass and not plastic like many of those I looked at in the lower price range. I went hope to assemble the lamp and found that not only was the it easy to put together but it was solid as a rock. I'm not sure what else you could ask for at any price.
