will 3-way light bulb work

Can I use a 3-way light bulb with this lamp? Thank you
Asked by: Zoe
Yes, I have a three way in the top light and a regular 60 watt in the lower light and they allow me to light either a 14 ft. x 18 ft living room and or to do close up sewing or reading.

Is the top light dimmable?

Asked by: Mary
Well.....the switch clicks twice. With that said, I put in LED bulbs and the top light dims but has a flicker or light vibration. A regular bulb may not do that!?

The only thing that disappoints me about this and I should have expected it is that the reading lamp will not stay where I put it. It springs right back to where it is. I am hoping that over time it will get to where it is a little less springy and a little tighter. I put LED's in it and it seems to be working fine. I thought that the top lamp would turn one bulb on than both bulbs at the same time kind of a two place setting but that was not true either. They both come on at the same time even though the switch clicks several times before it goes off. Overall for what a paid it does what I want but it is not as good as I had hoped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and bright, really good buy. I have been buying these types of floor lamps for years and years. If you are thinking about purchasing one you should think about getting one where the top lamp uses TWO 150 watt bulbs, as this one does, not just one 150 watt bulb, as many floor lamps are. Two 150 watt bulbs means you can really brighten up a room if need be but if not, just use the lower switch setting and/or unscrew one of the bulbs. Also - the reading lamp is a great option. I have two floor lamps in my living room and i will probably buy another one for my bedroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lamp for a bedroom I have this lamp next to my bed, and it is a great reading light. I really like that the reading light moves so that i don't have to move around to find the best lighting. The top light gives off a great amount so i can get ready in the morning, but not disturb anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product - assembly tricky OK, firstly, I got this for $39.97 at a HD store in Coconut Grove, Florida. Good price for reasonable-quality lamp. Alternatives, probably of better quality, at IKEA, were pricey and this one has a good appearance. Plus I wanted a reading light. Assembly, as another reviewer indicated, was tricky. The lamp comes with four "lamp poles". The bottom one's bottom part receives a screw from the base that goes up into it and should be tightened first. For this you need pliers to hold the nut while you screw the pole in. Be careful to keep the juncture of pole and base at eye-level to make sure that the pole goes in straight from all angles. It's hard to judge from above and as far as I can tell the fittings are aluminum, meaning you can strip the threads easily. Keep the junctures of each pole to the next-lower at eye-level to keep the poles true. The three succeeding poles have an inner threaded aluminum (?) tube that screws into the female threads inside the outer pole. Again, it's important to make sure these go in straight or you run the risk of stripping the shiny metal threads. All the while you are doing each of the poles you have to hold the next higher poles up so that they don't pull the pole being installed out of true. Managed after some hassle to get two of these lamps assembled. The remainder of the assembly was fairly easy. Unlike the other reviewer I did not hammer the inner aluminum tube in but unscrewed it from the top of the lower pole and re-screwed it in until it felt firm. I then proceeded to screw the next-up "lamp pole" onto the aluminum piece. One last thing: the way the description is written up on this website it's not clear how much wattage is permitted in the top lamp. It's 300, 150 W each for the bulbs. The warning pasted to the inside of the shade says 150W, type A, to reduce risk of fire. I'm not sure whether you are limited to Type A. I think you can use spiral so long as you don't exceed 150. If someone knows better, enlighten me. 23W Phillips spiral for top part each puts out 1600 lumens. Docked one star for the assembly hassle, not described in the minimalist instructions. Plus, we'll see how long they remain standing straight. Not sure this is the most well-designed scheme for the poles.
