I had an electrician install these as there was no way my husband or I could have. This is a 1960's Colonial and we needed boxes installed that could handle the 18lb weight of each one. We ordered six (6) fans - unsure of one room - and installed five (5). Good thing! The motor from one set was "on", but non-functional, and another appeared to be a returned-and-repackaged item. Having the 6th fan allowed us to switch out the parts - and I was able to take the last fan back to Home Depot with no issues. Delivery was prompt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Fan I just bought and installed the third one of these. Like all ceiling fans I suppose installation is not for the faint of heart. Read the instructions carefully and check out YouTube for videos if you haven't done this before. Be patient and keep your eye on your blood pressure. Couple of things 1) The space where the R/C receiver goes is very small. You feel like you're going to damage the unit when you're tightening the nuts to close the space - but I haven't yet so I guess that's OK. I can't believe that increasing the height of that space by 1/4" would be detrimental to the design of the fan. 2) They don't tell you on the cover that the chandelier bulbs don't come with it so pick those up with the fan 3) You can't test your electricals until the lighting unit is connected so you can't test the motor alone. Fine, but they should tell you in the manual 4) If you install it and it isn't balanced pack it up and take it back and get another one. I spent hours trying to use the "balancing kit" on the second one without success. Don't even try it. I replaced it. A pain I know but ...The other ones I installed have NO movement and that's as it should be. btw I don't know why some of the other reviews talk about the pull strings - there are no pull strings on this fan. It's R/C. Having said all that, it's a good fan. I installed the first one in our bedroom over a year ago. We use it every night in the summer. It's quiet and very effective. That's why I bought the others

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice fan but ................... There was only one issue with the fan installation however I thought it was a significant and unnecessary problem. The installation was easy and fast until I started to install the light kit. This became an almost two hour process because there was insufficient room for all of the wiring and other electronics. I tried countless rearrangements of the contents trying to make sufficient room in order to mount the light kit. I finally succeeded but I am concerned that I will have issues in the future because some wiring breaks or comes loose due to the pressure from packing everything so tightly. This could have been resolved very easily if the top bracket was just 1/4" deeper. Also, the instructions were very minimal and offered no useful guidance on this step. PS - I later read reviews on the fan. The negative ones all cited this very same issue.
