Dimmable CFLs and LEDs require different power requirements than traditional incandescent bulbs. Does this lamp work with dimmable CFLs and LEDs with the DualBrite feature?

It should. Best is to try it out though since different CFL/LED manufacturers might differ in performance. I have a dimmable LED bulb and it works perfectly with this light.

i do not believe CFL's would work with this unit since myself has tried also.
The CFL I installed worked only in the high lite level but was NOT comparable to 2-level brightness which is one of this lights best feature for motion security.

I have LED's in mine and they work fine. CFL's don't work very well in them. They take to long to warm up. And I don't think they do very well in the cold.

Hi Mike,
As long as the bulbs you use are dimmable as you state, then this will work for this motion sensor fixture with DualBrite.

Answer:
You can try using a frosted cover built from other plastics but this probably won't fit perfectly so it's just a temporary fix. Call the manufacturer's customer service line to see if the part is available. Otherwise you might have to buy another unit.

You need to contact Hampton Bay and they should send you replacement of plastic lens.
This is a very common issue due to the elements and Hampton Bay needs to retrofit this problem for better material.

Answer:
It's gives off a decent amount of light. I have mine attached close to the front door. When I come home at night it lights up at good 30 foot radius. Because of the style of my house one side of the light is being cut off so if you have no obstructions you could add another 10 to 15 ft to that radius.

It drops about 50 percent until motion kicks it up to full brightness. But remember, you have to use a dimmable bulb in this lamp. Otherwise it will not work properly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by classic look with full range view The outdoor lamp was easy to install & looks great October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect match for existing lights We were happy that we could find an exact match to our existing outdoor lights. Great security (motion sensors) in an attractive package. October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent product at right price I have installed two of this outside my house, where I found it's good in normal condition. But when it's moisture outside or raining, sensor doesn't work that good. Also not a good production for corner lights. Sensor doesn't work that well in corner. October 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed Installation went well until I tried to attach the crown to the top of the lamp. There are two thumb screws to attach the crown, but the holes into which the screws are supposed to fit were not threaded. By the time I figured this out (with a magnifying glass) the thumb screw threads were ruined. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced the broken ones after 6 year usage Got the same one to replace the 6 years old ones. Can't really complain but the other one got 6 years ago still works. Seems the sensor/control is failing and need to replace it. Only complain is the bulb is not included any more. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great light The lights are very attractive on my garage. They offer the security I was looking for. They were easy to install. One problem however was that the cap to the screw was missing on one of the lamps. August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking and functional Great looking light and the dimming feature works great. We had motion sensor lights that went dark but really like dimming feature of this light because we can still see outside at night. Only had 1 draw back, it did not work with fluorescent bulbs. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as described! Product looks great and works well with two achilles 1) it is not white but off white or cream 2) the "t bar" for installing to the box is flimsy in this way, after you install it can still swivel unlike a "t bar with a screw to lock it in the position!
