Customer Reviews

Amazon Teak 7-Piece Patio Dining Set-DISCONTINUED is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed When our set arrived we were very pleased. As promised assembly was fairly easy and the set was beautiful. But then the problems began. We soon realized that it was difficult to find an umbrella that would fit into the bottom support's opening. Had to make hole larger. Ok problem solved. One of the reasons I was sold on this table was because the table size was adjustable. Pull table apart and the leaf which is stored underneath just rises up into place as you pull the table apart. But you can only use the umbrella when the table is fully extended. You can't use the umbrella when the table is in the closed postion. I didn't want to remove the umbrella everytime we opened or closed it so we just left it open and left the umbrella in place all summer. Ok, I'll deal with that. We sealed the wood as recommended. Then we noticed that we started seeing cracks in the wood, which have continued to get worse as time goes by. When fall arrived we removed the umbrella and wanted to store the leaf underneath but it was very difficult. to close up the table. Spring came and we once again had alot of difficulty opening it up, we assumed it's from the wood swelling. The cracks have gotten much worse and now it's time to close it up again for the winter but we've found it's now impossible to close it all the way no matter how hard we try. By now I'm completely fed up with this set. It ended up being a complete dissappointment. Even thou we saw many good reviews on this set before we bought it I would not agree with them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT A GOOD VALUE Had I only paid 200$ for this set I would be less upset however, we have had the set now for a little over a year and the wood has split to the point where some of the chairs can't be sat in with out falling backwards. The wood has warped so badly it looks like a piece of cheep plywood that has been left in the rain and completely separated. I also had to drill out the bottom to get my umbrella to fit. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED, DO NOT BUY!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looked great at first.. Purchased this set in the spring of 2010. Unfortunately I broke my foot shortly thereafter, so I did not put the set together until last (2011) spring. Went together without issue and looked wonderful!! However, it did not take long for problems to appear. Cracks first appeared in the legs & backs of the chairs where the pieces had been glued together, these have now, as of spring 2012, developed into large splits that are on the verge of coming apart. Do Not Buy This Set unless you want some very expensive firewood!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought the set about two years ago, falling apart I bought this set about 2 years ago, the glued pieces started to show cracks 6 months into gentle use. After one year, the parts started to fall off, I have to sand and re-glue them back together with weather resistant wood glue. Had I know that I would have never paid $999 back then. Like the previous reviewer said even at $200 it will be a questionable value. It did look great when purchased though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful looking at first, but very bad quality! This is the first time I ever wrote an online review, but I felt compelled. When I first bought this from Home Depot last year, BTW it was under a diff. name than Hampton Bay but this is the same set!, it looked very rich and beautiful. After I put the whole set together it started falling apart virtually from day one. I thought I did something wrong, I mean it literally was falling aparf. Seats cracking, table cracking, slats falling off and the finish splintering. I brought it back to Home Depot and sadly bought a more expensive cast aluminum set. I say "sadly" because I really did love the look of teak wood, it just wasn't going to work. BTW when I bought this set it was $999, and if it didn't fall apart I think it was definately worth that. There is a reason this "teak" set is $699, unfortunately it's very bad quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Won't blow away I just put this set together yesterday, and I'm impressed with the weight of the set. In our high winds, this furniture certainly won't blow away. One of the seat slats was loose, but I tightened a screw and hopefully it will hold. The instructions showed how to assemble, but the box didn't include the right number of screws to follow the directions exactly, so I had to get additional screws to put in to the arm chairs. Assmebly was relatively easy, but took about two hours to complete. It didn't come with an umbrella, so I bought one from a different store. The umbrella can't be inserted unless the table extension is put into place. I plan to treat the wood with sealer to give it some protection from the weather, but it's worth it to me because I like the look and weight of the wooden furniture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A one season set. As other people stated, the wood on the chairs started to separate during the second season. On the third season we couldn't use the chairs anymore and had to replace them. They are very cheaply made from pieces of wood glued together instead of being made of whole pieces, which you cannot tell when buying on-line. If I knew that I wouldn't buy. Save yourself a $1000 - don't buy this set. Home Depot should remove this product from their line. BTW - the set was completely covered during winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We have had this set for 4 years and love it! My wife and I bought this set 4 years ago and still love it. The build quality is great and it's standing up to the time and weather with no issues. I don't remember how long it took to assemble, but it wasn't all that long. We live in Ohio and do not cover the table or chairs in the winter, leaving them outside in the elements. We do apply wood protector every other year and this helps keep the color in the wood. I have also decided to take a hand sander to the arms of the chairs and the rim of the table to smooth it out a little, but nothing more than a few minutes worth of work. Overall, this has been a great set for a good price and we are more than happy with our purchase.
