Customer Questions & Answers

How do you change the lightbulb on this model?

I am not sure how this is mounted and don't want to twist it. There are two screws but those only remove the metal frame and not the frosted glass. Thanks.
Asked by: Mike
You don't change the bulb. You replace the complete fixture. They are $39.97 at the store.

can you mount this using a pancake electrical box?

Asked by: bobfromkent
Probably. There is a small amount of space under the fixture base plate for extra wiring and connectors. If you are careful, I think it could work. I have never tried it. Before starting, drill out the mounting holes and use two fender washers to make the installation easier.

Black Outdoor LED Flushmount is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasted 1 year. Bulb cannot be replaced. I used this light on my front porch. It looked great and worked well, but after just one year of normal use the light started flickering constantly. The integrated LED bulb cannot be replaced. Of course I couldn't find the receipt so Hampton Bay wouldn't honor the warranty. What a waste! I replaced it at my own expense with a different fixture that uses replaceable bulbs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does anyone test before the fixture leaves the factory? This is the second fixture in less than a year where the "transformer" does not work straight out of the box. Does anyone test the product before it leaves the factory? You can probably guess my mood after installing it, finding out it does not work, taking it down, driving 20 miles back to Home Depot and returning it to the store -- how I feel. See my other review about how difficult it is to install. All it takes is to drill a larger hole in the base and add two 1/8-inch fender washers to the package to help with the ease of installation. Why can't the manufacturer make this simple and cheap change? Have they never installed their own product? Having installed over 40 of this style of light fixture I think I have some experience with it.

I had this barely a year and now the lights just flash. Nothing can be replaced on it so a new fixture need to be purchased. I tried working with the Hampton Bay support as this comes with a 3yr warranty, only to get the run around because I no longer have the receipt (who keeps their $40 receipts for over a year!). I now have to buy another light to replace this and I can tell you it won't be a Hampton Bay product after this headache.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from its ok Ok so it is nice as far as the way it looks and when it is lit up. But everything else sucks like it did not come with bolts of its own. So i had to find bolts laying around in the garage. It did not come with the bracket so you can make sure you line the bolts up correctly. But oh wait that is what it tells you in the manual. So i give it 2 stars because it didnt come with the stuff needed for the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have installed about 40 of these fixtures on Habitat for Humanity homes. The pricing is good. I like the fact that it uses less energy and new homeowners will not have to be replacing a light bulb. What I have a problem with is the installation. Apparently the design team never tried to install the fixture while standing on a ladder 9-feet off the ground. The mounting holes are too small. If the product were slightly modified and larger holes were drilled in the base plate and two extra washers were added, then this installation would be made much easier. The manufacturer apparently does not test every fixture. I recently had to return a light because the transformer was defective. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you have already installed the fixture and realize that you have to take it back down and drive across town to get a working model.
