Probably not, but I was able to switch out the bottom fixture and replaced it with a hanging pendant.

I put a 24" down rod on and it works great. I've done others with 4'-5' down rods. They will work if balanced.

Answer:
Hi kc,
Yes, this fan will accept a longer down rod. Just match the finish and the diameter of the rod.
At the ends of the down rod are pins that will fit into most down rods with holes drilled across the opening at the ends. The pin is what secures the fan, so most down rods are compatible.
Thanks for asking.

Answer:
Well, considering there is no such thing as a 'standard' ceiling fan, it depends on the ceiling height for this fan to work.
This can work for 9 foot ceilings, but you must excise caution for lower ceilings.

The owner's manual says the reverse switch is located on the switch housing. It is not pictured in the manual and I am unable to locate it. The fan is 15' off the floor, I am on a ladder and cannot locate it by sight, feel or by using a mirror.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 128 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't work out well After shopping for fans for about a year I decided this was the one that I wanted. It has the up/down lighting with dimmer. The installation was more involved than most fans , but not any more difficult, just a few more steps. Unfortunately it only worked for one night. By the next morning the wireless controls were starting to act up. No more dimming function, no slow speed. By the end of the day nothing worked. I eventually wired it withought the controller to diagnose the problem and it was the controller as the fan and lights worked with the conrol removed. I would have given this product a one star, but the Home Depot staff is very nice to work with on problems. They connected me to the manufacturer's tech service which decided my receiver was bad and only sent the receiver to repair the fan. After installing the replacement receiver the transmitter/remote was no longer working. I called again and was given the option of receiving a complete replacement wireless control or I could return the fan. By this time I decided if I was having this much trouble with the wireless controls even if the replacement fixed the issue durability was a huge concern. I opted for the refund and purchased a more basic fan from Home Depot with pull chain controls. While the fan was working it put out a good amout of circulation, the lighting was ample, and it was quiet with no wobble. Too bad the control system is suspect. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by greay looking and fairly easy install has same light in previous home- liked it so much I bought again. need better pics on install instructions to place items in order when installing. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking fan, but the fan speed slows down over time STAY AWAY FROM THIS MANUFACTURER, THE FANS ARE KNOWN TO SLOW DOWN TREMENDOUSLY OVER TIME. BARELY MOVES ANY AIR First of let me start this review by saying, this is my third ceiling fan from Home Depot, made by Hampton Bay, now called the Designer Collection. I have noticed a trend, on all three of them, the fan speed slows down over time, initially the fan moves decent amount of air at High speed (not great just enough). After 3 to 4 months of use, now the High Speed is same as what the low speed was. Even if i stand directly below the fan, i can barely feel any air. What a disappointment. The fan looks great, and having two separate light options are great, but defeats the purpose of having a ceiling fan, as it does not move any air anymore. My wife and I bought the fan for $219 about a year ago, and what a disappointment. When we called manufacturer they will send a new internal part that controls light and fan (not easy to install, have to uninstall and reinstall the entire fan, requires complete reassembly), but the same thing happened again. Worked fine for 3 months then gradually the fan slowed down again. So is a buyer required to keeps doing this every 3 or 4 months for rest of the life? We will not be buying any fans for Home depot anymore. We have not any any issues with other fans bought a Lowes around the same time. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ceiling fan Awesome fan, like the size, old fan only 52", installed in a great room, can definitely feel the air moment. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this fan! I needed 2 fans for my living and dining room. They are elegant (my style) and sleek. They were assembled by the contractors with ease, They were balanced and threw a lot of air. I love the two lights and the fact that they are clear/white globes instead of the tan. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan/light combo Dimmable lights, 3 speed fan, remote control. Be sure to use all screws. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brookedale II 60-inch Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan This is a nice looking fan which does a good job at circulating the air, whether on the winter or summer setting. As others have said, though, of course it makes no sense to have the upward or downard draft switch on the fan itself--it's a major production to change the orientation when I've got this fan on a 15-foot ceiling. But another thing I like is that it gives good light. I use it in a retail store, so that's important to me. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent ceiling fan with light Easy to install but be sure to carefully follow instructions. We had to make several changes when assembling the fan together direction not clear on the order in which parts should be assembled. Otherwise nice and quite. June 25, 2016
