can you add an extension to make the light hang lower

we want a bigger fan for our great room but it will need to hang down approx. 18" can we change the rod on the fan to make it lower, it looks like the fan frame connects to the rod but it may not be secured and the factory rod may be able to be removed a larger rod could be added?kc

Probably not, but I was able to switch out the bottom fixture and replaced it with a hanging pendant.

Will this work for a standard ceiling height.

Want a fan to install over my kitchen table and while I love this look, was wondering if it will come down too low over the table.
Asked by: Mena
Read the dimensions on the box. If they are not visible on the box, open the box and fine the manual inside.

Where is the reverse switch housing located?

The owner's manual says the reverse switch is located on the switch housing. It is not pictured in the manual and I am unable to locate it. The fan is 15' off the floor, I am on a ladder and cannot locate it by sight, feel or by using a mirror.
Asked by: VInny
On the top of the motor housing.

Brookedale II 60 in. Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea bad quality Installing the fan wasn't bad, just take your time, its a big fan that can take a large down rode. It has been 2.5 years since install and we are having issues with the lower/downward pointed light fixture. It will work some times and other times wont come on at all. You hit the button and it blinks and stays off. We have also noticed that it has started a consistent clicking noise while spinning, like something in the fan housing is hitting lightly. For the price I would expect a better engineered product.

It took my husband almost 3 hours to install because nothing was pre-assembled. The light it emits is not very bright but that is not an issue for us because we also have a lamp in the living room. Love the remote control and the fan is very effective. We also purchased the 36" rod since our ceiling is very high. Highly recommend this product, we've had this since Black Friday and no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful looking and effective at cooling a room These are functional and beautiful looking! They really transform the feel of a room, look and temperature wise. Simple enough to put together and easy to operate with the provided remote. Would highly recommended this fan for large rooms. It has great air flow. The only con is the lighting is not enough for large rooms, especially with vaulted ceilings. We fortunately have can lighting that assist in lighting the room appropriately.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work out well After shopping for fans for about a year I decided this was the one that I wanted. It has the up/down lighting with dimmer. The installation was more involved than most fans , but not any more difficult, just a few more steps. Unfortunately it only worked for one night. By the next morning the wireless controls were starting to act up. No more dimming function, no slow speed. By the end of the day nothing worked. I eventually wired it withought the controller to diagnose the problem and it was the controller as the fan and lights worked with the conrol removed. I would have given this product a one star, but the Home Depot staff is very nice to work with on problems. They connected me to the manufacturer's tech service which decided my receiver was bad and only sent the receiver to repair the fan. After installing the replacement receiver the transmitter/remote was no longer working. I called again and was given the option of receiving a complete replacement wireless control or I could return the fan. By this time I decided if I was having this much trouble with the wireless controls even if the replacement fixed the issue durability was a huge concern. I opted for the refund and purchased a more basic fan from Home Depot with pull chain controls. While the fan was working it put out a good amout of circulation, the lighting was ample, and it was quiet with no wobble. Too bad the control system is suspect.
