My remote only works part of the time. It's brand new. Battery is good and when it works, it works well. What can I do?

I just had 5 of these fans installed in my new house. Most of the remotes work just fine. The one in my bedroom, however, only works sporadically. It will work just fine for an hour, a day or so and then, not at all. I take the battery out and reinstall and it USUALLY starts working again. VERY frustrating though. I don't think it's the battery because when it's not working the red light still comes on. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the Campbell remote. Please make sure all wire connections are securely made. Loose wires could cause the malfunction. I am looking to replace the lights in the fan with LEDs and want something equally as bright, possibly brighter if I can find it.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 146 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Fan, should have added a cover if Light Kit not installed This is a great fan, quiet, and we love the remote. However, don't buy this if you don't want to use the light kit for some reason. We decided that the lights were too low for the Family Room, so opted not to install them, and use the globes as back ups for our bed room fan from the same company. I'm not sure what it would have cost for the company to add the cover plate, and they admit they have had several inquiries, but still no plate. Not to be stymied, I discovered that the plastic top to any 1lb Coffee Can spray painted with a dark brown to match the blades fit just perfectly and covered the wires until the company decides to make one available. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan, excellent value This was the first fan that I have installed, and the product itself is excellent. The fan was a special value and included a remote control. After I installed the fan, I called customer service because the light was so dim, they informed me that the light control had a dimmer and walked me through the control. The dimmable light was an unexpected bonus. May 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for the price Exactly what I was looking for in a ceiling fan. I love the remote and the quietness of the motor during operation. It was easy to install and, again, the price was unbeatable. June 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed with its features I was impressed with this Hampton Bay model. I've had multiple Hunter fans in the past. This fan performs very similar, quiet with no noticeable vibration except on the higher speeds. I like the installation, in particular the way the wireless receiver fits into the housing, the captive screws on the fans blade brackets, and the screw-less installation of the fan blades to the brackets. Also the fan has a memory if it losses power to remember where you had the dim level set to for the lights and unlike the Hunter fans, it doesn't come back on at full light when the power comes back on. Overall I liked the thought put into the features. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don' waste your time! Recently bought 2 of these for a 24 X 12 room. We hung the first one and decided to test it before mounting the blades just to check the wiring. First the fan wouldn't start, then it would run in intermittently. It would finally run with a push to start it and you could hear something in the motor housing rubbing. We tried the light and found the dimmer didn't work as it would go straight to full brightness. We decided to pull that one down and put the other one in its place. It was still in the box when we checked it, but the motor would barely turn it was so tight in the housing. They're both going back tomorrow and will find something else. June 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bought 2 more so … Had the first one in for 2 months now, runs quietly, smoothly and looks good. Price is definitely good; bought 2 more. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice look Easy set up and looks nice. I do recommend getting brighter lights if this is the main source for light. August 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by adequate The installation is ok until you get to the remote part that goes inside the fan motor. I also purchased a Kensgrove fan with remote control and did not have any problems with trying to stuff the remore conrol apparatus inside the housing. Very pretty fan and good airflow just not easy to install. Not for the faint hearted installers. Must have patience. August 23, 2016
