Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Marv Great Fan, should have added a cover if Light Kit not installed
This is a great fan, quiet, and we love the remote. However, don't buy this if you don't want to use the light kit for some reason. We decided that the lights were too low for the Family Room, so opted not to install them, and use the globes as back ups for our bed room fan from the same company. I'm not sure what it would have cost for the company to add the cover plate, and they admit they have had several inquiries, but still no plate. Not to be stymied, I discovered that the plastic top to any 1lb Coffee Can spray painted with a dark brown to match the blades fit just perfectly and covered the wires until the company decides to make one available.

This was the first fan that I have installed, and the product itself is excellent. The fan was a special value and included a remote control. After I installed the fan, I called customer service because the light was so dim, they informed me that the light control had a dimmer and walked me through the control. The dimmable light was an unexpected bonus.

Recently bought 2 of these for a 24 X 12 room. We hung the first one and decided to test it before mounting the blades just to check the wiring. First the fan wouldn't start, then it would run in intermittently. It would finally run with a push to start it and you could hear something in the motor housing rubbing. We tried the light and found the dimmer didn't work as it would go straight to full brightness. We decided to pull that one down and put the other one in its place. It was still in the box when we checked it, but the motor would barely turn it was so tight in the housing. They're both going back tomorrow and will find something else.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sandy Great looking, hard to install
We bought 4 of these fans and had a horrible time installing them. Trying to get the remote box installed inside the bracket is trying, but the base plate doesn't seem large enough to accommodate all the wires required to connect the fan, remote and light kit. Also, one of our fans will not work, the light does, but not the fan. If the remote doesn't work, the fan will not operate (or ours does not). If installing more than one of these fans, program the remote, otherwise if you use one remote in one room, the fan in another room is also affected. Lastly, the light is bright enough if you increase the brightness by holding the light button on the remote.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Andy Pulsing Hum
The fan was easy to assembly with simple blade attachments and spring clips for the lights. The fan was balanced even on high speed. The fan is fairly quiet in operation however the fan motor has a pulsing hum that was quite distracting for me in a quiet bedroom. Other Hampton Bay models such as the Sinclair model are extremely quiet.
The lights are on/off with the remote. The light wiring can be bypassed to operate by dimmer switch if desired. The fan speed must be controlled by the remote. Wiring could be made easier but it works. I would recommend a professional install if you have not installed ceiling fans before. I'd recommend other models before purchasing this one again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TheFriedOyster About what I expected
I bought a total of 7 of these to use in my rental apartments. I may regret that decision once all the remotes come up missing but we will see. One of the remotes will burn through a battery in just a few days - not sure what the problem is but im thinking i just need to pony up and buy a new remote for $40.
For awhile one of the units was making a rubbing noise from inside the housing but soon went away - might have just been a grease issue. The bulbs seem to burn out pretty quick so stock up but with 3 sockets it puts out an average amount of light.
Overall not ecstatic nor disappointed but does add a nice touch to the room without the light looking like a boob.

The remote control seemed like a cool feature, and had I been reviewing this 6 months ago I would have said it was a good deal. However, recently the receiving unit up inside the base went bad, lights no longer work. Called HD service desk and they want $40 to replace it. Plus of course it's a pain taking it all apart again. When I asked if this was common and if I'd have to buy another in a couple years she laughed and said "We'll be here!" I just bought a replacement fan/light from someone else, with pull chains to control lights and fan.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bear Looks great but unimpressive performance
I bought this fan for my master bedroom. The remote control was one reason I chose this one. The assembly instructions were confusing as far as the rod verses flush mount. The light shades connect to the fixture by spring-like metal tabs. It's easy to install the shades but the tabs are visible when the light is on. The light fixture uses candelabra base bulbs (think christmas light sized base) and the bulbs included with the fan don't put out much light. The worse part is the fan wobbles and it's especially bad when the fan is on high. I wouldn't buy this one again. And I've purchased many Hampton Bay ceiling fans in the past. On the plus side, this fan looks great!
