We purchased the fan to replace the same model we have had for 14 years. We use our fans daily and we finally decided to replace the one that we had after the switch no longer shut off the fan and the motor was getting noisy. We have several of this model throughout our home and they all work very well. They look very nice, they run quiet and move a lot of air. We have only had to replace one other that was equally as old and used just because it became more noisy from age and almost continuous use and my son likes the quiet. These fans take almost constant use very well. It is only with advance age/use that the fans get noisy(10+years). They still function well after that. Great fan!

We've had our fan for 12 years and love it. The motor started to make noise. Warranty said motor was warrantied for life by the retailer. Home Depot no longer stocks this fan in store .Kelsey Was Great! They offered to replace it with a fan of similar value. The manager called Hampton Bay to find out if a replacement motor could be sent. Hampton Bay told them to send motor to them, at my expense, for inspection and they would replace it if they found it to be defective. That would leave me with a room without light and fan mid July. Come on Hampton Bay, You could do better. We bought a new fan at HomeDepot.com

This fan looks very nice however I was expecting a stronger air current when on high especially at 52 inches. The fan was installed by an electrician and everything works as expected. It's been running almost continuous for over a week now and no problems. I'll be adding another to the bedroom since this summer in Philadelphia has been very hot and humid. If I had air conditioning I might get a better result from the fan so I'll be looking at those Labor Day sales closely.

I am writing this review as an electrician with hundreds upon hundreds of ceiling fans installed. I bought this for my own home because I wanted a 52 inch hugger fan that has 4 shades with normal medium base bulbs that wasn't absurdly priced. I also didn't want a remote or other bells and whistles. This was priced right and looks great. I could not initially find that this fan light kit wasn't candelabra which concerned me. It says: "four 60-Watt incandescent bulbs (not included)." You can have 60W incandescent bulbs in both candelabra and medium base (a15). Thankfully they were regular A15 bulbs. Also I received 4 "60" watt bulbs with mine. I put in quotations because they don't even remotely produce the lumens I'd expect from a 40 watt bulb. They are a joke, but since they 'weren't included' I won't ding the manufacturer.
Installation was not easy as most fans. This motor bolted to the bracket with three 7/16 nuts. Most of the ones I've dealt with that are bolt/nuts are 3/8th size. Due to the size of the motor I couldn't tighten them all the way with the nut driver I had so I had to finish tightening them with a pair of pliers. The light kit was also the type where you had to thread all the screws in through a hole. Some you can leave a screw or two in and twist in in place, and others like this one make you wish you had three hands. It produces a somewhat cleaner look but it sacrifices ease of installation. That combined with the way the motor mounts is why it gets a 2/5 in that department.
Overall though the price is great at $70 with free shipping, the fan is quiet, and it looks fantastic. I'd recommend this to anyone as long as they have the tools and the patience to install it. Looks so good I might buy a second one for the other bedroom in the next couple of months. Should this fan give me any problems I'll revise this review with exchange/return experiences.

Mounting screws for this ceiling fan were missing. Fortunately the fan I was replacing was identical thus the electrician used the screws from the old fan to mount the new one. There was a phone number furnished in the box to call to order any parts that were missing, however, that was of no use to me since I was not going to pay the electrician to make a second trip to continue the mounting when the missing parts finally would arrive. Obviously, quality control is not followed by the manufacturer. Seems a no-brainer to be able to furnish the correct number of screws. Thus the lower rating was given for ease of installation.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mtwillo Good fan. Need to ship the remote with the fan.
The fan is a very nice fan. Very quiet and I like the fact it takes normal type bulbs. The remote is also very intuitive and easy to use. The directions for installing the fan are quite good but I did not realize how difficult installing the remote was going to be because it was shipped separately. I installed the fan and the remote came about three days later. In short, I had to almost completely disassemble the fan in order to install the remote and with the remote installation it assumes that you have a lot more space to locate the remote "module" than I had. So, I had to use some plastic ties to suspend the module within the fan base to avoid the module rubbing on the motor. So, I would give the fan installation ease of instruction an A- and the remote an F-. So, unless the company gets their act together and ships the remote and the fan together, I highly recommend you wait until you have both to begin your installation.

The fan functions as it should, however, has a "rubbing noise" as it spins. It rubs against the housing at
particular spot. The faster it spins the more frequent the noise. I have not been able to solve the problem.
