Absolutely love these fans! We looked everywhere for a modern, outdoor ceiling fan & just fell in love with the look of this fan. I was a little hesitant to purchase at first after reading some of the reviews, but we have used for the last few weeks now & I absolutely love them. They create a great breeze when on high, so much so that we tend to use on medium or low. The fans were easy to install. It took my boyfriend only an hour to install both fans. The sliver finish is so sleek, I wish I had these inside my house as well as out on our patio. Just gorgeous & they work so well.

This fan looks great, and is a great price! The only l snag I ran into involved the snap together wiring harness. I installed the fan and turned the light on and it didn't work. So first I tried another bulb (still no worky). So I wiggled the wires going into the harness and the light flickered. The blue wire that controls the lights had a poor connection at the harness, so I clipped both ends and bypassed the harness by using a wire nut and some electrical tape. Now it works great!

I bought this fan a couple of months ago on 8/18/2014 and was very unhappy with it. The blades turned vary slowly and did not move much air. I came to this web site and wrote a bad review for this fan. A couple days later I was contacted by a Hampton Bay Fan Representative who explained to me they wanted to get involved and resolve the difficulties the best way they could. Hampton Bay sent me a new capacitor and blade arms (at no cost to me) which really improved the air flow immensely. I am very happy with my Hampton Bay Carrington Fan. It pays to buy quality products from reparable companies like Hampton Bay. Thank you!

I actually bought two of these in the natural iron color online (they were not available locally) and paid to have them installed. The box says they move 6983 CFM of air, yet at high speed standing directly under either fan all you felt is a slight breeze when fan was running at high speed. It felt like less then another ceiling fan that was rated 5300 CFM running at medium speed. I called the number in the manual and eventually talked to TAL tech support (a maker of the fan for HD Hampton Bay Brand), I spoke to several people. I was finally told they had a redesigned blade arm to increase the pitch of the fan blade and it would provide better air flow. They' would send me out two sets of these new arms in about a week. Having already wasted several weeks I checked and found this fan was now available in my local store (with new arms?). I went to my local store and they now had a bunch of them, I bought two. I opened one and took out the blade arms and sadly they are exactly the same as those on the two fans I had installed. It appears those new arms are brand new change to try to correct an existing problem. Increasing the blade pitch increases air flow but may also produce excessive noise and vibration as well as causing the motor to burn out prematurely. I did not want to be part of this developmental process which might work and might not.
I purchased two new fans rated at 5512 CFM (not at Home Depot) and installed one then compared them, the new 5512 CFM fan seemed to move more air on medium speed than this one does on high speed. Put the new fan on high speed and there is no comparison.
I returned all 4 to Home Depot explained what happened that I'd paid for installation and that they still had a bunch of these fans in stock. The manager said he would get back to me about it.
The next day I got a call back and was told Home Depot does not consider these fans defective, the new arms to address the airflow problem will only be sent out to customers who complain about the lack of airflow.
The fact that these fans are rated as 6983 CFM and my present fan rated at 5512 CFM moves more air on medium than this does on high made me think they must be bad but what do I know.
Only other question is if these are not defective why are they supplying those arms.
And the money I spent to have these installations........................
How anyone can honestly say these fans move anywhere near the 6983 CFM they are supposed to is not possible.
