Hi Raggs, I contacted the manufacture of this fountain to get you an answer.
The manufacture stated the size of the pump was not that important. It is more important to make sure you get the pump that is sold in the garden department.
Do not buy a pump that is offered in the plumbing department.

My fountain froze several times during the winter. Now, the entire structure is compromised. Why?

My fountain is kept running 24/7 to allow the birds and critters in the neighborhood access to water. During the winter it froze solid several times. The pump was fine when thawed, so thought the entire structure was fine. (I've had several fountains over the years, and have never had one affected by the weather.)

Now, I notice that the entire fountain is literally falling apart. Several sections have begun to "crumble" and the structure of the top waterfalls is compromised so that it looses water. I've had to "prop" the top of the fountain onto the bottom using rocks. (The bottom section has broken away which holds the structure together.)

For something that is build for outdoor use, it should be made to withstand extreme temperatures.

Now, I'm having to find another fountain to accommodate my needs.

Why has this happened, and what can be done to fix the problem?

Answer:
Yes, if you decide to I'd recommend low voltage DC LEDs. The transformer can be plugged into the same duplex GFI that you have the fountain plugged into.

Answer:
Dear Valued HomeDepot Customer,
We reached out to the MFG for more information and below is their response.
"There is a serious leak in the main basin of the fountain. It is suggested that the fountain is returned to the place of purchase for refund or exchange if still under warranty."

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 50 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Discounted Return - Works Great! Initially, I didn't want to spend over $100 for a fountain, but fell in love with this rock formation design. Normal retail price here was $182, but a previous customer returned it saying it had a slow water flow. Plus, there was about a 6" wide section broken on the left side of the base, but it was only the outer shell, so I didn't see any issues with the bottom basin holding water. They had it marked down to $100, but it sat there for a few weeks and I inquired about a lower price...the manager knocked off another $50 and I said, "Sold!". Took it home, set it up in my new landscaped front yard, plugged it in, and it works like a charm! Plenty of water flowing! November 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 5-Star Rock Fountain! I purchased this Infinity rock fountain (although the one I purchased said "Hampton Bay" on the box) at Home Depot in La Quinta, California for only $129... I happily give the fountain a solid 5-stars for both quality and value... It was easy to set up and looks and works absolutely fantastic... The birds in my area (especially the Western Tanagers) absolutely love it too! I put a circle of landscaping blocks around the fountain and then filled the area in with pebble-stones... The entire project cost less than $200 and looks like a million bucks! I couldn't be happier. May 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garden Section Enhancement Fountian - Nicely made, instruction booklet easy to follow - set up a no brainer, adding water took longest. Had to install a waterproof outlet which took a while - Home Depot has all the parts - patience is the word here. Please note the Home Depot bamboo fencing - 4 ft high x 8 ft wide x 1 inch diameter ordered from Home Depot internet (specialty item) - installed within 30 minutes with 2 people -chain link fence looked out of place - this bamboo pulls it all together - so far friends who have seen the final result do not believe that this was our DIY project, we proved the contrary! (and have the receipts to show). Again, we are very pleased with this section of our garden which we had in mind for a long time, found all we needed at Home Depot and got this finally finished this month ! July 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing and beautiful Aesthetically pleasing, great design, relaxing cascading water fall, and compliments our paver patio. Very easy set-up by 1 person (I'm 68 years old . . . ). I added a remote control plug @ the power outlet for convenience, since it is located just off the pavers about 20 ft from the covered patio where we routinely sit and close to my grill. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great sound..Very Pretty Purchased at our Local Home Depot. Was Extremely easy to put together. Made sure area was level. Filled fountain up with water and when turned it on the water flowed exactly as picture on the box it came in. Has worked well ever since. Beautiful peaceful sound and water flows nicely. Such a nice addition to our backyard Garden area. I have since added a Frog and Turtle to the mix which just enhances the look. May 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the sound!! I have searched high and low for an indoor fountain that made the loud noise I wanted. However, I settled for this fountain which was labled on the box as "Outdoor Only". The man in the store said I could use it indoors. I purchased the fountain and two sales associates helped me get the 102 pound fountain to my car, but it wouldn't fit in the car in any way, so I took it out of the box. Since it comes in two large pieces, I was able to put the bottom half in the trunk and the rest in the back seat. The fountain was quickly set up in my apartment and within 10 minutes of getting it home, I was enjoying the Loud sound of the water cascading down into the basin. I LOVE it!!!! I wanted a peaceful, yet loud fountain for meditation and tranquility as well as keeping outside noise out at night. This fountain is absolutely perfect! December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Sound - Beautiful Look! We were looking for a natural outdoor water fountain for a specific space in our front yard. We didn't want any artificial looking colors like some fountains we saw were. This fountain at Home Depot is an earthy brown/black/grey/taupe. It is exactly what we were looking for. The water flow is not too loud and not too soft, just right. If natural is what you're looking for, you can't go wrong with this choice. April 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by look it over carefully! I set up this fountain and thought all was well, until it started running itself dry in short periods of time. After I unplugged it and let the top basin drain, I noticed a finger sized hole in the casting, allowing all of the water to run out through the base. I must commend my Paducah store; however, they agreed that I need only bring the receipt and the flawed upper piece for an even parts exchange, rather than my having to uproot the entire fountain.
