Not as yet, if it becomes a problem I'll put a bird bath nearby.

How good is it against high winds

Asked by: les
It's pretty heavy and stable. The resistance to high winds is probably more a function of its location rather than its inherent stability. It's generally shaped like a cylinder so it should be fairly aerodynamic.

Runs beautifully, the sound of water running perfect. All in all very happy with the Hampton Bay Fountain

However, after about two weeks , the exterior up to the internal water line became covered with residue. The instructions say to remove this with a soft brush. Well that does not work for more than half the residue . It is NOT calcium. I used soft water!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fountain, bad sound. The fountain works great, but needed some adjustments. First, the water sound from inside the fountain is "tinny" and resembles the sound of a toilet. However, we blocked the large back access hole with some rags wrapped in plastic, which completely muffled the "tinny" sound. Second, the pump assembly is cheaply made and the connection stub came off when I attached the tube. Fortunately, a little super glue solved that problem. Finally, the tube assembly doesn't sit well or stay in the seat at the top dish. You just have to wiggle the tube and pump until it sits in place. Otherwise, the fountain is delivery the pleasing sound we wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Sturdy, and Perfect with a little adjustment Fountain is beautiful and works like a dream. The three urns share the same large reservoir which allows for fewer refills to compensate for evaporation. This fountain is loud - I mean really loud. Noise is created not only from the pour spouts, but also from the water pouring into the reservoir inside the fountain. (echo, echo, echo) I found an easy solution for this problem and love, love, love the resulting sound this fountain creates. Sound solution: When you unpack the fountain 1.) take some of the foam packing material and break off large chunks 2.) place the foam chunks in a quart sized ziplock bag (or 2) 3.) put the foam filled bag(s) inside the fountain through the hole in the back The above steps work perfectly with no concern about burning out the motor as the foam floats on top of the water never interfering with the motor itself. It provides a nice buffer for the water to hit inside the fountain vs allowing the water to fall all the way to the inside water level and it reduces the sound significantly. Our fountain is close to our sitting area, so for conversation purposes I wanted to reduce the sound a bit more than what the foam offered. Additional Solution: I added some glass spheres (one large and one medium) to sit in the second and third pour levels. The spheres allowed the water to cascade around the balls instead of drop directly in the water pools. Not only did this produce the exact sound that I wanted out of a fountain, but it also is visually pleasing. Summary: With very little adjustment, this fountain is fantastic. It is sturdy, visually appealing, and a great outdoor patio addition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good fountian I bought this product thinking I could use it inside the house. It is made for outdoor use because it splashes enough water, a fine mist, on the floor around it and would damage the floor over time. I followed the suggestion to put a chain from the last opening down into the pump chamber. This reduced the noise in the pump chamber. Then I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a bag of 1 to 2" river rock and some chain to use between each of the chambers. I found a black chain to use in the necklace section of Hobby Lobby. I put the river rocks in all 3 champers which looks good. Then I put the black chain from the top and 2nd tiers. The river rock keeps it in place. This allowed the water to follow the chain and stop the splashing that was going on. The last thing I did was put a cork plant floor protector underneath it to prevent condensation. . This process converted the fountain from an outdoor to an indoor fountain. This is a classy looking fountain now and looks and woks good inside my home

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous fountain! I purchased a different fountain and it splashed water everywhere, didn't hold the water more than 4 hours and looked cheap. I went to Home Depot in search of a better quality fountain and decided on this one. It is everything people are saying. It's beautiful, tall, looks elegant and holds water. I have had it running for 3 days and the water level is still to the top. The only small issue is the echo noise that is easily fixed with putting something inside to mute the sound. I bought some rocks & painted them with gold spray paint and put them in the tiers.
