Customer Reviews

Charlemont 7-Piece Patio Dining Set is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Uneven manufacturing workmanship...good Home Depot customer service The set is nice looking. However, three of the chairs (2 four-legged, 1 swivel) were made with frames about 3/16" wider than specifications. As a result it was impossible to screw the associated seats to the frames of these three units. There was also some variation in the seat frame widths of the other chairs, but not extreme enough to prevent assembly. Home Depot customer service was helpful - I had to disassemble and return the entire unit (meaning I will have to put together another fresh unit) but the CS reps were professional and were able to ensure some compensation for my inconvenience. I will update this review when I receive and assemble the new unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holding up really well! We have had this set for over a year and it's holding up great. We live four blocks from the beach, where dust rusts...but this aluminum set is showing no rust yet. We did have one small issue with one chair...the frame was slightly misaligned so the bolt didn't tighten up. My husband drilled clear thru the frame and we put a nut and longer bolt on it...end of problem. It's at our rental house, so it may not be treated very gently sometimes, but no problems with it yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent set, once assembled After assembly, the set is very nice and sturdy. But the assembly instructions were awful--graphic for step 2 went with text for step 3 and vice versa. Determining which screw lengths to use was also a challenge. It took me about 6 hours to assemble this set, including pondering the terrible instructions. Unlike other reviewers, I eventually found the screws to be long enough for their intended purpose (after trial and error). I had to use a hammer and rod to clear aluminum from several screw holes on the chair frames that didn't get punched out cleanly, then use a furniture clamp with rubber pads to bend the aluminum enough and pull the parts together to align for assembly. A couple of plastic screw caps kept popping off, so I hot-glued them in place. One important note--consider storing the chairs in high winds. Although the chairs seem heavy and sturdy, one swiveling chair has already blown over twice in 30-to-35-mph wind gusts that caught the seat back broadside.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great, manufactured horribly So, as very handy person my Wife and I put this together no problem. The screws aren't long enough for the holes in the chairs to connect the back to the chairs. I had to go to home depot and get longer screws to rig it. Also the cross bar holding the glass on the table was welded incorrectly and wouldn't lay flat. We had a birthday party the next day and needed to make it work. I snapped the welds off the cross bar piece and put a table cloth over it. Bottom line, I apologize for my rant. However next table I will pay the 1500-2000 for a set made in the US.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from All's Well That Ends Well There were two drill holes not punched all the way through so I had to get out my drill and finish the job. Thank goodness I am a handy woman. Chairs are lower than standard so you feel like a little kid sitting up against the table. I had to buy 3" cushions to make them feel right. Missing one bolt that I had to scrounge up from my supply. In the end, the table and chairs look great. I found some Tommy Bahama fabric covered cushions on ebay that matched the color of my set. All's well that ends well!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Chairs are great, table not so much The package arrived at my home in one box, which my wife thought was a mistake. Upon opening the box, we found everything well packaged and damage free. Assembly of the chairs would be difficult, if not impossible on some, without a cordless drill. Many of the holes do not line up and the use of a cordless drill was indispensable. This really wasn't much of an issue. The biggest surprise is that the table comes in two pieces, with a seam down the middle. Hence, everything in one big box. The problem is that once assembled, the table top is bowed in the center. Picture a ping pong table that folds up from the center. I may take the glass panels out and try to straighten it out some. The only other negative perception is regarding the swivel chairs. One of the main reasons I purchased this set was the aluminum construction. After years of purchasing metal sets that rusted at any price, I bought this for longevity. The set is all aluminum, except for a steel plate that is used in between the seat bottom and the swivel stand. It is too soon to tell how long this will last, but I wish this fact was disclosed. As far as looks go, the set looks good and I like that the seat material dries quickly, as this is a pool side set. It seems to be a good value for the money, just a few things I didn't expect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chairs Parts Don't Fit Together When trying to assemble one of the chairs, the back did not fit in between the arms of the chair. I called customer service and was sent a replacement chair. On this chair the arms were too far apart and the bolts would not reach to connect to the arms. Poor construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Aluminum Frame Table and chairs. Assembly takes too long. Good Table. Good Price. Really like the aluminum frames. Hoping it really is rust free, unlike the prior table and chairs I had which which had a steel frame and lots of rust. everything is lightweight, except the glass. It appears to be very strong and stable. The stationary chairs are stackable. The pivots are not, nor would anyone expect them to be, but there are very nice, comfortable, and rotate effortlessly and only when desired. Only real negative was the time to assemble it all. 4-5 hours, plus another 90 minutes to get the glass table top in, which was too tight on one side, plus one of the table top supports was bent. Otherwise, I would have given a 5 rating.
