I installed this light because my backyard outlets stopped working, and no amount of investigation has fixed them (including calling an electrician, where he investigated and said it's likely the source wire was cut when the basement was being finished).
I picked up the light from my local (close to work) Home Depot, and decided to install it before the weekend arrived.
The light looks great, replacing the less modern builder light in my backyard, and the outlets work well for everything I've tested out so far. I am very pleased with the final results.
Having said that, the install was a mess. The instructions were clear enough, but what you're given to work with leaves a lot to be desired.. be sure you have a few things lying around before you start installing this light.
So, here's a summary of the install:
The mount (as intended) was held in by 2 tiny screws, which kept making the mount rotate, it just didn't hold at all.. even just a wind storm would have knocked the light over.
I fixed the mount by attaching a small piece of metal before screwing in a longer screw and bolt, so that once it's in place, it doesn't move.
Then came the wiring.. simple, no issues.
The light is now ready to install into the mount.. but, once the light reaches the wall, the 2 screws attached to the mount going into the light are too short! I had to grab 2 longer screws and use them instead.
Next, I installed the glass to the mount, but realized there were no more screws left to keep it in place! The solution? The 2 screws that were once on the mount, since they were no longer in use.
Finally, the top mount can easily spin clockwise and get knocked down onto the light bulb, so I had to use some black electrical tape to keep it from spinning.
In summary: I would rate the fixture a 5/5, as it was exactly what I needed, and it looks and functions great! However, I would rate the install and included hardware a 1/5, which totals 6/10, and thus, a 3 Star rating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by willwgp Very nice upgrade to the house!
Installation was fairly easy! Took about 20 minutes. It was nice that the light could hang or stand, but we really just like it standing. We like that the lantern has a modern decorative look and has glass instead of plastic. I think the only feature missing is a motion sensor. Most exterior lamps have this feature, but the GFCI outlet was a nicer trade off. We also like that it doesn't use a special light, just a standard! Overall, we really love the light and recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade around the house.

We were thrilled to find this porch light because we needed an outside electrical outlet on our porch but didn't want to install one directly. This light offers 2 plug ins for outdoor appliances and yard tools. That part works perfectly! However, the instructions said you can mount the lamp in the up or down position. But to mount it in the down position and have the outlets covered by the little door, you have to unbolt the lamp from the base and remount it onto the base to keep the doors covering the outlets. Not too hard (only 2 bolts) but not described anywhere in the instructions. And the pictures were not very helpful.

This Hampton Bay Coach style lantern is gorgeous. It is very practical and gives a very nice look to almost any outdoor space that needs a bit of additional lighting. The design and implementation is great with one exception, which i discuss below. Lighting and functionality each deserve 5 out of 5 stars. At this price point, you get a beautiful functional lamp to complement or add to an existing design.
Superb design. The lamp itself if a beautiful piece of work, and holds true to the coach-style solid black and clear glass genre.
Outlet is a HUGE bonus. When it comes time to install Christmas lights on the roof, finding a power source is always challenging. Usually, i remove the light cover off of the existing lamp, and install a socket-to-outlet adapter. This lamp, however, includes a dual GFCI outlet right in the lamp base, giving you an EXCELLENT place to plug in those Christmas decorations. You also won't need any additional switches, as they can be turned on using the existing lamp switch. Genius!
The waterproof housing is large, and can accommodate large light bulbs, whether the large round & decorative or the energy efficient.
Only one con: poor bracket design. The as-shipped bracket that holds the lamp base to the wall is extremely flimsy out of the box. The attached image shows why: there is only one small screw holding the entire lamp fixture to the bracket. This screw also happens to be at the weak point of the metal bracket, causing any sort of load on the lamp to immediately stress & bend this connection. After the initial install, the lamp was wobbly and completely insecure. I was extremely concerned, and feared that any force applied to the lamp (such as plugging in or unplugging a power cord into the outlet) would cause the bracket to break at this single-screw junction. Despite the great design of the actual lamp, the installation mount could possibly have been its Archillie's Heel. That is until i though about it a little bit more and realized there is a MUCH better way to implement the exact same bracket and improve the stability 10 fold.
If you simply switch the bracket around, using the wall mount piece to hold the lamp bracket in place, you can create a much more solid lamp anchor, as it SHOULD have been out of the box. No additional hardware necessary. See attached picture for how this was done.
This clearly should have been designed this way by default. But without this fix, some might be dismayed by the instability of the lamp.
Overall, the lamp delivered exactly what one would hope and after the hardware fix, proves to be functional, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. 4 out of 5 stars.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by shortbasser Just what I needed
Besides providing plenty of light to the front of my house the GFCI outlet is an added bonus and provides a source of power to allow me to connect the extension cord so I can charge the batteries in my boat. I wish I had made the change years ago. The installation instructions were just a bit vague especially since I changed it to the upright position.
