I am a mid-50's woman who is pretty handy in the house. This fan was installed in my 10-ft ceiling breakfast nook which already had a light fixture. I turned off the breaker to that area and followed all the directions. All electrical connections were easy to understand and color-coded. The best surprise was putting on the fan blades - the one-snap installation was incredibly easy compared to the usual screwing in of three small screws with most fan blade connections. Overall, the fan looks great and moves a lot of air in my south-facing nook which has made life much more pleasant in the desert southwest.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by skrymir01 Great fan, easy installation
At first I wasn't wowed by the instruction manual, but once I understood the flow of it (it mixes the standard & close-to-ceiling instructions together) it made sense. The actual installation took very little time and effort, which I was grateful for. The blades were especially easy to put on because they just snapped/popped into place. So far we're very happy with it: it provides a good bit of light, it stirs the air nicely, and it looks super slick in its all-black goodness. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

One of 5 fans we bought to replace some old shiny brass ones before putting the house up for sale. Fan looks and runs great. Quiet, except for a slight wobble, but I haven't taken the time to balance the blades (parts and instructions included on how to do this). The woodgrain blades are a nice contrast to the black fan body (though reversible for black blades, if preferred). Only complaint is that there were no instructions in the box. Not sure if this was a fluke or just the way it is. Was able to figure assembly fairly easily, and even without instructions the whole process (take down exisiting fan and putting up new) took less than an hour.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by smcclure728 I love my fan!!!
I purchaced this fan because of the contemporary look, but also because I as told that a 52" fan with 5 blades would circulate much more air. Now, hanging a fan is never fun, but thankfully this fan had a little hook on the side so in the middle of hanging it, you can set it in the hook rather than swapping between you and your helper holding it over your head. This was a convenient feature. Once the tiresome job was done, we laid on the bed, cranked the fan on high and were amazed by how quite it was...and how great the airflow was. This fan is fantastic. We just moved and plan on purchasing a house. As soon as we do I am getting one for every bedroom and the family room.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trin333 Nice design for a nice price
I bought this fan primarily because of the price and then for the simple design which isn't over the top. The fan is very quiet and circulates air very well. The install was simple and the blades are reversible so that you can have either the black side facing or the reddish brown color. The light bulbs are a nonstandard size (which I wish wasn't the case) but doesn't pose a major problem. I haven't had a problem installing the blades (which I've done a lot because I couldn't decide which color I wanted showing). The only clicking I've heard is from the chain on high speed (which I took off, because I control the fan by a dual light switch for that purpose.)
Overall, a good buy.

I got the fan for an affordable price and it's a very nice accent to the room. It moves the air nicely and having a light in the center of the room is awesome. The only drawback is that the matte black finish looks like it doesn't have much paint on it, so it gives the fan blades a cheaper look. Plus, when the contractor opened the box, one of the blades had a scrape on it. I had to install it with the scrape because I wanted to put it up that day. I recommend you open the box before your installer arrives, so you have a chance to exchange it if there is damage.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer easy to install, looks sharp
Works well in cooling a medium to large room, very quiet. The installation instructions were easy to follow and very clear. Like the looks of the black casing with black blades. Finials look and feel cheap, would recommend replacement with something that matches fan or decor in the room you install it. Operation is very quiet, even on full, and moves a substantial amount of air. Very pleased with the operation and looks of this fan. This is second fan of this type I have installed in my home, the other one having run trouble free for over three years.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cicci831 GREAT PURCHASE AS ALWAYS WITH HAMPTON BAY FANS
I was looking for an all black fan and found this one and it was just what I wanted
Installation was easy ( this is like the 50th Fan I have installed for my Family and Friends so I'm rather good at it ) I did not have to balance the blades as there was no noticeable wobbling.
I also installed the Hampton Bay remote control for this fan but had one problem... you cannot use the dimmer switch on the control because you cannot dim the florescent bulbs So I replaced them with the equivalent of 60w L.E.D. bulbs and now it works great and the bulbs are supposed to last 22 years. if I get five I'd be a happy camper. NOW this fan really movies the air ! on high it cools the room in seconds and there is not one sound off this fan it's very quiet which is great as this is a bedroom fan. I do not know why they discontinued this fan I should have gotten a few more.
Ciao for now
