Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use LED MR16 bulb?

Can I use 35W (3000K) MR16 LED Bulb in place of the G9 Halogen bulb?
Asked by: BeginnerRemodeler
The halogen bulbs supplied are 60 W, about 1.5" long with a 2 prong plug. If the MR16 can fit it will only give half the light. Also I don't know if the voltage for the G9 is the same for the MR16. Check with Hampton Bay at 1-855-4342678.

Is there another way to contact hampton bay customer support to order a shade?

Good day, I bought one vanity light fixture, but during shipment one shade broke. How can I contact customer support through mail to order another shade, since I live on the island of curacao, calling is a bit more difficult (costly). Regards, W.Bulbaai

Are these dimmable with a standard dimmer switch?

Asked by: kj
They should be as they use quartz bulbs which are a form of incandescent bulb. Bear in mind that they burn hotter than normal bulbs and a dimmer will also give off heat while dimming. Quartz bulb gain their longevity by using their heat to redeposit burnt off tungsten back onto the filament. A dimmer will reduce the amount of heat produced and may interfere with that process shortening bulb life. Why not just purchase a 3 light unit (which is cheaper)?

How do I wire this fixture? I cant find the instructions and they're not online

The wire ends are sealed in shrink wrap and not exposed like any other fixture I've seen. Do I take off the shrink wrap or somehow poke the wires through it?
Asked by: Doug
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to the MFG for more information and find their response below. “Please remove the shrink wrap before installing, please call our toll free number at 1-800-660-5391 for instruction manual or direct assistance with installation.”

Is this fixture dimmable?

Is this fixture dimmable?
Asked by: Jade
Yes BUT !! You probably don't want to dim it. It uses quartz halogen bulbs which are different from standard incandescent bulbs in that 1) as they burn, due to the much higher temperature this bulb burns, the filament gasses are redeposited on the filament instead of the glass. This gives the filament a much longer life. 2) They cost more to replace. 3) If you reduce the power going to the bulbs, their temperature drops and the gasses now no longer deposit on the filament drastically shortening the life of the bulb. Better idea --- Buy the three light unit rather then the 4. It's cheaper & gives off 3/4 as much light. Warnings: 1) Do not touch the quartz halogen bulbs with your fingers. The oils will react with the quartz eating through it and drastically shorten the bulb life. 2) Make sure the unit (3 or 4 light) is installed with the bulb screens on the bottom to provide proper ventilation and catch any debris should one of the bulbs shatter.

Does this series of products come in brushed gold or an other color than satin nickel?

Asked by: Ricardo
I'm only aware of the satin nickel. The coloring of the glass is best fit with the nickel and wouldn't look good in gold.

It looks great, puts out a lot of light. But it runs hot. And the halogen lights burn out very quickly. It appears to take 60-Watt G9 bulbs which are expensive in retail stores. From mail order the price is significantly lower and I have become aware also that G9 LED lamps will serve as replacements for the halogen light bulbs. I have ordered three G9 LEDs via mail order and am hoping that they will work, run cooler, and last a LOT longer! We shall see...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There is nothing wrong with this fixture! OK people here we go. First of all when you slide the glass in the fixture (do this before you put it on the wall) see if the glass is loose. If it is, gently squeeze the metal reflector until it is snug. Do this on all the reflectors until they slide with some resistance. If its too tight bend it out a little. Next DO NOT TOUCH a quartz bulb with your bare hands. This being said I get great compliments on this fixture. Yes it does light up more then down. I used two holes farther from the center to stabilize the fixture on the wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected ...... This light fixture uses Halogen bulbs which get VERY HOT . you can feel the temperature rise in your bathroom 5 minutes after tuning on this light fixture . Can't believe that this light fixture could be energy efficient with it producing this much heat ! Love the fixture but hate the heat ! ...... I would not recommend this fixture .....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking light! The installation directions were a bit short (mostly pictures) but that makes sense since electricians know how to install most anything. Nice looking light. Doesn't give off a ton of light once you put those frosted shades on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm surprised by the negative reviews I'm glad I didn't read the mixed reviews of this product because I'm actually quite happy with it. I had an electrician install it rather than doing it myself so maybe that is the difference? I give it a solid B+ across the board. It isn't super expensive looking but it looks nice and is a good buy for the price. I like the soft light and find it fine for applying make-up.
