Are the boards interlocking and how should multi-sizes be installed.

When I visited Home Depot the samples did not have interlocking edges, so I am uncertain if I want to buy this as a "floating floor installation" for my upstairs Rooms , hallway and bath. I am afraid the floor boards may separate. Also, with multi-sized boards --- do you lay a series of adjacent boards -- as per wide, narrow, wide, narrow .....etc. ? My wife likes this pattern but I have some questions that need some resolution. THANKS
Asked by: Vince
HL1055 DAKOTA OAK IS A CLICK LOCK/ FLOATING FLOOR , Decide on the range of widths you want to use. Calculate the square footage of all the boards you need to buy by adding the widths of all the boards you will use and determining the percentage of each width relative to the total width. Unpack the boards three days before installation and allow them to acclimate. Start laying the flooring against a wall, leaving a 3/8-inch expansion gap between the groove side of the boards and the wall. Choose a different width for the second row. Stagger the ends of the boards at least 6 inches from the ends of those in the first row. Vary the widths randomly as you lay the rest of the boards. you may have to install two rows with the same-width boards to avoid falling into a pattern. Second row. what is in the case - third attempt to get a straight answer on this question

Jeff previously asked: Since one case is 31.73 sq ft., the only combination that makes the math work is that each case contains 8 of the 7.6" widths and 8 of the 4.3" widths. Is this correct? HomeLegend responded - "there are 8 planks in each case". Jeff is now saying this: I don't think we are communicating here: I guessed that the only combination that works is 16 planks - 8 of the narrow width and 8 of the wide width. This product is unusual - it has 2 different widths. Almost all laminate flooring has a single width. If the case has 8 planks, there is no combination that adds up to 31.73 square sq. ft. Even is all 8 of the planks were the larger width, you would have only 20.21 sq ft. So here's my guess: the product comes with 16 planks arranged in 8 layers, each layer consisting of a wide piece and a narrow piece. Looks like I'll find out when the flooring arrives. Perhaps someone can put this info on the webpage because I think it's a fair question. Here's the math: ((8 * 47.875 * 7.6) * (8 * 47.875 * 4.333))/144 = 31.73935 sq ft

There are 8 planks of 7 3/5 inches and 8 planks of 4 1/3 inches in a case.

what is in each case?

The answer that "homelegend" provided can not be correct: to reach 31.73 sq ft you would need 8 planks of the 7 3/5 and 8 ADDITIONAL planks of the 4 1/3. So 16 would work - 8 of each. Would be great if I could get this clarified.
