Answer:
It depends on how loose the sand is. But in my case I put a brick on each side for security. The bricks were sitting there anyway.

Answer:
About 6 inches, I dug down in the mulch and made a hole with a screwdriver before pounding into the ground (ours is hard and clay like). The front arm with little spike rests directly on the ground and helps stabilize it. Pretty good design. We have had it for a couple months now and it hasn't flopped over yet after regular use.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 102 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install. Seems to gold a 50' hose up well. Lot easier to put hose back then the box style keeper. No need to mount a hose stand to you house. October 25, 2016

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by HOSE STAND Not exactly what I had in mind but needed one. A little more fancy than We needed. September 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Customer Service If you want to spend an hour scrubbing glue off product, (from sticker), then buy this Dumb Hose stand.I did email HD and got a ridiculous answer September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solved my issue! This hose minder is stylish and gets my hose (which was previously winding out all over my yard) up and out of the way. Love it! September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by so far great deal Another HD also had Hampton stands but not this one. I bought the one for $5.00 more then this one only because I needed one. But the next day I went to East Meadow HD. They had this one. The one that was more expensive had the powder coat missing in many place, that is why I checked another HD. This model was not missing any of the powder coating. Also the design allows you to rest the hose nozzle in the loop. It is very easy to put into the dirt, I hope it last a long time. In terms of the label - I just put the hose over it, I never attempted to remove it. August 6, 2016
