Answer:
Yes. There is a small switch at the top of the fan that reverses the direction of the motor. You have to get to it manually to switch it. You can't reverse it from the remote.

Answer:
Yes but you must manually change direction with the switch located on top of the motor. The remote control is not capable of doing this, it can only control fan speeds (3) and turn the light and fan on and off.

Yes! When we first set it up we thought it didn't have and real air push and then my husband found the switch and this fan makes lots of breeze.

Hi yes it does. It is on the top of the ceiling fan. Just make sure you power down the fan before you reverse the blades so you don't hit your hands or head and or face.

There are two rating for outdoor use: wet-rated and damp-rated. which one is this one rated?

Also, what is the material for the blade that supports the fabric? it seems to be wood.

I plan to install it under an open pergola. So need to make sure the blade will hold on sun and rain.

thanks

Answer:
The fan is rated "Indoor/Outdoor". Based on the way the light kit and remote control receiver are mounted to the fan, I wouldn't place it in an area where it could be rained on.

Blades are fabric and wood. Fan is rated to use outdoors under a roof. Using it in a Pergola would most likely destroy the fan.

Answer:
I would not recommend this fan for an open air install, with wood and rope I believe it would not hold up well to the elements. It would be fine in a covered area but with the rope embellishment it could potentially mildew/mold in a wet environment.

Home Depot has a variety of lengths of poles you can use. Just match the finish to the fan (brushed nickel). I have one of my fans on a 36" pole hanging from a vaulted ceiling.

Hi I think it is about 60 watts. I put a 100 watt LED bulb. Just make sure if you use a dimmer you should only use bulbs that are made for dimming.

Answer:
I owned 4 of these. Because the canopy is completely enclosed, you cannot put more than a 60W bulb in there due to heat. The bulb that comes with this fan is a 60W eqivalent CFL (about 14W). You "should" be able to put a higher wattage bulb in there because there is far less heat with a CFL, but the instructions tell you NOT to.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 104 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this fan! Great purchase. We knew a run of the mill fan wouldn't foot the bill for our family room. We needed something unique and BIG that would anchor the space. This nautical piece is perfect! We were a little concerned that she was all looks when we saw how slow the highest setting rotated, but those giant sails don't need much to move some massive air. Quiet and beautiful. What more could you want? October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Compliments Galore! This fan is such an eye appealing addition to any room! It truly gets compliments galore. There are so many unique features that capture a nautical look. From the rope bound top, to the sail-like fan blades, to the beacon-like light, this fan, when turned on to the lowest speed, allows the viewer to appreciate all these wonderful features. It is a great investment! October 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Remote not working... Now we have to pay to take it back down to return it. Very Disapointing October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what we were looking for The 3 cloth sails (for the fan blades) were unique! We installed the fan on the porch, overlooking the Bananna River. The nautical theme is EXACTLY what we wanted. The blade supports are solid and heavy. The chrome complements the rope coil around the motor. The light kit is NOT standard, mirroring the nautical theme. Because the fan was mounted on our porch, we pre-sprayed the 3 cloth fan blades with a clear 'Tent' protection and water repellent spray. We figured it would be easy to clean and prevent discoloration from rain spray. In short, love the fan. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Slow Fan Speeds! Love the look of this fan, but should have settled for one that was less attractive in exchange for functionality. This fan on the "High" setting moves less air than every other ceiling fan we have while on their "Low" setting, and we have 4 other fans. You must be sitting directly under the fan to feel any air movement. Additionally, this Indoor/Outdoor fan does not hold up in exterior conditions. After less than one year of use, the metal portion of the fan blades is pitted, the metal on the motor housing is rusted and the rope trim on the motor housing is mildewed. The only part of the fan that has held up is it's slow operating speed. Will be replacing....soon. June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ESCAPE 68" Ceiling Fan My fan is installed outside over my 20' x 20' roofed patio. I installed it in mid November so there hasn't been an opportunity to feel it's effectiveness. The fan has great styling and really looks classy. I have a few comments about the fan that I feel should be corrected. 1.-The remote control module is difficult to fit into the ceiling bracket once all the wire nuts are in place. Too much to stuff into a small space and it took a bit of adjusting to get all the shrouds to fit properly. 2.-the remote control is unable to reverse the fan direction. The only way to do this is to get on a ladder and move the switch on top of the motor. My fan is mounted on an 11' ceiling with an 18" down rod putting the top of the motor 9.5' to 10' above the patio. I will have to wait until the Spring and Summer seasons to determine how well this fan actually works. The massive 68' blade span will hopefully move air at the rate described even though the blades turn slower than I would expect for "High". I only gave a 4 star rating because of the issues i have with the remote installation and lack of reverse from the control. It seems well made and is quiet so I would recommend this product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Totally what we were looking for! We looked at other reviews before we made the purchase and weren't convinced it was the right fan for our room. The fact that our room is small with 8 ft ceilings, we were worried about the large size. The fact that it has only 3 blades and the light fixture is integrated into the fan makes it a clean & polished look for our space. Of course we decorated with a nautical flair and the rope and sailcloth detail were perfect. As far as the less than positive reviews on air movement - our fan is mounted on the short drop supplied and even on slow you definitely get a light breeze. We only wish we had another room to put another one in! Love it! September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Fan I am waiting to have it installed in my New (formerly burned down house last year)..I did take the fan out of the box and look at it and it is Just what I wanted. I will post a picture when it is installed. Thank You for the great and quick delivery Home Depot. June 21, 2016
