This is for the Hampton Bay Small Esdale Flush mount light fixture. SKU 720-254. The original shade fell from the packaging and broke, when I pulled it from the box.

Answer:
My previous experience with Hampton Bay was for a chandelier with a glass shade that broke while unpacking. Ended up buying a whole new fixture for spare parts. Now, with my glass globe breaking on this light, I won't waste my time or money on this brand. If I can't find a glass globe of better quality from some other manufacturer, I will buy another brand of light made by someone else.

The globe was also difficult to put on. A few minutes after the light was installed it fell from the fixture and smashed on the floor. Not impressed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it! I would like to start by saying that I don't like to give or read negative reviews. But I think that this warranted a negative review to prevent this from happening to someone else. This light fixture is very cute, but that is about it. We put two in my walk-in closet, and I loved the look. The glass broke on one while my husband was adjusting the globe after putting a bulb in. We contacted the company and were able to get a replacement glass globe. I don't remember what it cost us to get a replacement, but it didn't matter, because after being installed this glass shattered out of nowhere when we were not even near it. Not wanting to go through the hassle of trying to get a replacement again, we just bought a whole new light fixture and used that globe. Fast forward a year and a half, and one of the bulbs burnt out in my closet. Both glass globes did manage to finally stay intact, but now we absolutely cannot get this one off in order to change the bulb! It is inevitable that this glass is going to break again if we force it off. These globes screw off, but if you look at how they are designed, there is really no way to even tell that they screw on/off. We are going to avoid having to deal with these lights any longer, and I am at this very moment ordering two completely different light fixtures to replace these. Such a disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy - Breaks Immediately We saw these in the store, bought 4, and then saw the online reviews with a low overall rating. I was hesitant, believing that they would break immediately as other reviewers stated, but my husband seemed to think these reviewers had a "user error" versus the product itself. As an experienced rehabber / installer, he began installing the first one. It broke as he was screwing in the globe. Then, the second one's light bulb exploded. Don't buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why the twist on glass???? I adore the look of these...great price compared to all other sellers. One Caveat, the glass shattered in my hand the 3rd time I changed the bulb. Went to the Depot to get replacement and was told I had to contact Hampton Bay. I called HB and was quoted $25 for replacement. The fixture cost $19.97 - LOL!!! I replaced my two fixtures in the hall with something else. In this case spending less cost me more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great, won't last. The glass globe has a screw-in design, not the typical 3 set-screw design. When screwing it in gently, the globe shattered in my hands. Its just a bad idea.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design Flaw - Do not buy. Product has a design flaw. The screw-in-globe design is not engineered well and the glass globe easily shatters during installation, or soon there after. Other reviewers attributed breaking soon after installation to heat- which is wrong. Its because the glass neck is put under extreme pressure when screwed in and if it does not seat perfectly and release the stress, it ends up shattering within an hour. Its a nice idea- we need innovation here. The old fashioned three screws to hold on globe is outdated and im tired of cleaning out bugs that get into loose fitting shades. However, this was a good try, but is not the design unless fixed. Keep trying!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Brittle Upon installation, it is very easy to overtwist the globe on the unit and break it. There is very little tactile feedback from the globe when twisting it on and no clear detent to feed back when you've landed the globe in the base. I bought 3 of these to install in closets and two of them cracked when putting on the globe. One of them, I saw shards of glass in the globe after putting it on, and while taking it off, it shattered. While the base/globe interface is twist-on without the annoying little finger screws most of these lights have, the system is flawed.
