Originally purchased a Hampton Bay Outdoor Fan, but was not satisfied with the fan output and design after installation. Since the fan location is located in the ceiling of our patio (protected area), I decided to just go with an indoor model.
The installation of the 52" Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan was one of the easiest I have had the pleasure of installing. The bracket could have been a better design, e.g. some of the Hunter's have a slide on design, but other than that I was impressed (having installed at least 3 dozen ceiling fans). The most impressive design was the fan blade assembly, which allows for a slide on and snap in installation of the blades while the fan motor housing is up and mounted. It doesn't require assembly of the blade brackets with screw, like the majority of fans and allows for easy effortless assembly of the blades.
Good thought on the installation front by Hampton! It also looks good and has a sufficient amount of air movement.

We bought this to replace a just 2 year old Hunter fan in our bedroom that we could not get to stop making a tin like noise . We tried everything to fix it . This fan is larger and nice but my husband had a real hard time installing it and had to call customer service to help . It wobbles on high speed but 1-2 speed was fine . Well now 2 weeks later on speed 1-2 it makes a strange noise . We ordered the balance kit and are waiting for it .
I'm upset because all I want is a quiet fan and can't seem to find one for BR . The rest we installed in house are quiet and fine ! I do like remote feature on this .
I hope we can resolve this problem soon .

This was my third attempt at buying a fan that made me happy. I finally found one that moves enough air. It looks nice and is ultra quiet. It was a bit more difficult than others that I have installed but only a little. I didn't like how it hung on the actual shroud of the fan when you were installing it because it's not a thick piece of metal (and it's the decorative part) and I bent it accidentally. No big deal though. I like the remote for it as well. With two ways of hanging it (extension rod or ceiling mount), this fan will probably work anywhere.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lynnette OMG! Anyone heard of putting instructions in order of steps??
My very handy husband has installed numerous ceiling fans. This, by far, has been the most confusing install, mainly because the instructions were not in order of steps. He had to go back and undo several steps to do previous steps. If you don't read instructions, this install will probably go more smoothly!
That being said, the install took approximately two hours. Once installed, the fan is aesthetically pleasing, works well and runs smoothly. Other than the confusing instructions, I would recommend this fan/light. I suggest reading through the instructions once BEFORE starting the installation.
For the price, this is a good purchase.

I love this fan! It's quiet even at high speed and very powerful! The color choices on the fan blades are great too with a light maple on one side and a beautiful cherry on the other. I had this professionally installed but the electrician even stated this brand is easy to work with.

Good looking fan and pretty easy to install. Make sure you have enough room to get the remote control unit in the junction box and be sure to tuck all the wires far away from moving parts (or you'll hear them brushing).

Installed it by myself in three hours time, including replacing the electrical box with something that would support the fan weight. It has been in place for a week and it works great so far. Wife is happy, so I am happy.
One concern is that it requires the remote to operate it. The switch on the wall cannot be used to get limited use of the fan or the light. Switch off - nothing works. Switch on - it has power to the unit, but no way to turn the fan or light on with out the remote. I might not have bought it if I realized this ahead of time. So, that is why I did not give it 5 stars all around.

On the positive, the price is right at $119. It is replacing a fan in my bedroom. I hired an electrician to install it ($109). I'll mention that I have 10 foot ceilings in the center of my bedroom. It took the electrician 2 hours to install the fan. There were no issues with the fan, it just took that long. I was surprised that there is no way to reverse the fan direction on the remote. If you want the blades to turn the other direction, the electrician told me there is a switch on the fan itself that you have to slide. And, yes, I lost the feature that the lights don't dim. Bottom line: the price is good; the lights come on; and, the fan blades turn.
