This was the SIMPLEST fan to install. The blades snapped into place. No 3 or 4 screws per blade to attach it. It is also the QUIETEST fan that I have ever owned. It looks fantastic whether on or off...and the same with the light fixture.

I bought this fan to replace a Hunter Fan that was noisy, have another Hampton Bay fan in kitchen for 12 yrs. and still works and is still quiet. Love the remote control but could not get the light to dim. Change out bulbs for standard bulbs already. Wiring diagram is incorrect and you have to have the fan together for it to work. Would recommend this fan to others, but take your time wiring and strip the outer insulation off of the main power wire( just the white vinal) to create enough room for the remote control to slide into fan brace box and cut the wires from the fan shorter so the fit easily into the shroud cover.

I am puzzled by the other reviews that say installation was easy. My husband, a very handy guy, does wiring for Habitat and has installed hundreds of ceiling fans. He really struggled with this one. The instructions show a wiring diagram that is not the same as the fan is. It refers to wires of a color that are not on the fan and some of the wires are mislabled in the instructions. It's almost as if we had the installation directions for a different model fan. My husband finally abandoned the instructions, installed it the way he thought it made sense and crossed his fingers. Fortunately it worked.
The fan is quiet and attractive, so in that regard, I am pleased. Just a caution to those who are not skilled in electrical wiring: Factor in the cost of an electrician and be prepared to pay him overtime.
We also noticed that the decorative bracket that surrounds the threaded screw to hold on the light cover is shaped so that the nut will not screw in far enough to hold the cover on securely, My husband had to flatten it quite a bit in a vise in order to reveal enough threads to screw the cover on tightly.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by brentphx Much better than the fan it replaced
The fan looks nice, good finish, feels sturdy. All parts were accounted for and they even threw in extra wiring nuts. The fan it replaced had a loud 'brrr' sound once per second, this one is nearly silent while moving more air. Was on sale at the local store, I liked the included remote for cheaper than most non-remote models. I was looking for a non-LED model as this would be the primary light source in the room. I am quite happy with my purchase.
One point of advice for non-professionals, the fan has to be fully assembled before it will turn on. I deal with electronics and am used to being able to test my work as I go... before installing blades and light, I wanted to check that my wiring was good (I was also replacing a speed control slider switch with a standard rocker switch). I would press the fan On button and hear a click but no spinning. Check wiring, click. Recheck wiring, click. Put old switch back in, remove remote box, click. I finally gave up and said I would bring in a pro, put it all together so there weren't wires showing and parts laying around in my kids room and accidentally pressed the remote. Spins. grrr. A note in the instructions would've been helpful to say I needed the light fixture installed to complete the circuit.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by JupiterGirl Put it all together before turning on or it will NOT work.
YOU MUST AND I EMPHASIZE MUST PUT THE ENTIRE FAN TOGETHER BEFORE IT WILL WORK.
We wanted to try it before closing the housing and you could hear it click, but nothing moved. Once we called and read the website, it stated that you had to finish the install to check. The instructions could have said this and saved us hours of time wiring and re-wiring the fan. Great look, good fan.
