What are the chains made of and do they rust?

The fan I'm replacing the chains rusted (don't remember if it's an indoor/outdoor fan or not). This fan will be going on a deck that has a peaked roof but open on the sides. What are the chains made of?

Four Winds 54 in. Indoor/Outdoor Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this fan! I ordered this fan for my outdoor back porch. I chose the bronze finish and I'm glad I did. It looks so rich. I love that the unit is all closed...base, light, etc, so that dust and bugs won't get inside. The fan runs quiet and is the perfect addition to the seating area of my porch for a comfortable, relaxing evening outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks and works great The fan looks and works great. I'm not a pro fan installer but I'd say this is never a very easy thing to do. The design of this fan does make it easier than it could have been. As far as quality and value the fan blades are plastic, for $150 I expected wood but it seems this is the way all the fans are these days. Only time will tell if the plastic holds up and doesn't warp. I imagine that would cause some problems like wobbling. For now though it works great and I didn't have to use any of the weights included to adjust balance for wobble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died in 1 month Motor is load and blades don't move much air. Motor died after 1 month. Fairly easy to install. Looks ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome and quiet with lots of energy efficient light This is a great wet location rated fan and really quiet. Looks better installed than in the pictures. It was easy to install and didn't need the blades balanced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish fans! These fans are so unique looking, I love them! They're modern looking but also have an industrial feel to them. I haven't purchased too many ceiling fans in my lifetime but the ones I have bought have been Hampton Bay & I have never ran into any issues with their products. I was expecting the blades not to be as flimsy as they are but I still love these fans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this fan Love to have this in my house because I love to have the door & windows open. Loved it so much to purchase a 2nd one 4 years later to go into the kitchen. My only wishes are that they would have remote included, however I purchased & installed a remote kit & have the light be more opaque to allow more lighting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not impressed with the performance of this fan I would not have bought this fan had it been available in store to inspect. The fan itself is decent quality except the blades are very cheesy cheap & thin plastic, hollow on the back side. But my main complaint is the low power. High speed is about the same as medium on my other fans. I bought this for an outdoor pergola to help keep mosquitos away, they use the light breeze to save time getting to their target. Considering returning this thing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much assembly required, worth the effort. I admit it, I like pulling and appliance out of the box and putting it in place; no assembly required. That's not reality. But, nowadays, most equipment comes at least partially assembled, requiring very little from the installer. This fan came with a lot of parts and it required a precise order of assembly or you'd have to disassemble and back up a step or two. My short attention span was tested. That being said, with patience and perseverance this fan is well worth the effort. It is weighty, stable and well-balanced. It soft-starts and gets up to a very respectable RPM without any wobble. The blades are a good quality plastic and rigid enough not to sag in heat or humidity. It's attractive to view and very functional. I have two of them on my back porch and they are running a minimum of 4 hours per day without any issues.
