I used 9W dimmable LEDs on this, but I bypassed included receiver/remote setup and wired it to 2 in-wall dimmers (for the fan and for the lights). Someone mentioned there's a 6-8W restriction on the LEDs? I'm not sure where that information was obtained. As far as I know, you can use a 30W LED (150W equivalent) if you want. The total power dissipated and the heat generated from the bulbs is used for the max ratings. LED bulbs don't generate that much heat, but the total wattage still applies due to the wire thickness. If the fan bulbs are rated 60W, you LED bulbs should not exceed 60W rating. For example, 150W equivalent LED consumes 30W, so you're still under 60W rating. Read Less

Answer:
Yes, an angled ceiling maximum 25 angle. You may use a slop kit and or an extension rod for anything greater then that.

Answer:
The Garrison fan includes 54" of lead wires, but you will most likely have to have an electrician install the fan on a 24' ceiling. The electrician will safely add longer lead wires and have to use a 3/4" electrical pipe to bring the fan down. Ideally you would want to bring the fan down around 7'-8' from the floor.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 91 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful, unique fan It was a bit complex and time-consuming to install because we were fan-installation novices and because of the weight of the fan and all the pieces that were required. But the result is beautiful. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful distinctive, unique ceiling fan I have 7 ceiling fans in my home and this one is the most beautiful and most unique. It is in my LR so I see it every day. I saw the fan advertised several times, and loved it, but did not consider purchasing it because my wife is going through her, "I like light colors" phase. We have a huge entertainment center in our LR and this fan looks like it was made to match it so I used that as a reason to install the Garrison. The installation was fairly easy except for the usual problems with the mounting cover fitting over the wiring but it was OK. My wife is warming up to the fan but she is still in her "phase" but, it is beautiful, elegant and unusual. I don't know why it is named "Gunmetal", unless it is because of the accent pieces, because there is nothing gunmetal about it. You can put this fan in any room and I would suggest a room where you can showcase it. This fan is distinctive and gets noticed, unlike so many fans which are just there to move air and create light. You can spend 2 or 3 times as much and not get a fan this beautiful, distinctive and different. I am thrilled with this fan and would highly recommend it unless the style is not your taste. If you can't live without light colored fan blades and brushed nickle housing then consider another fan. But, if you want something unique, elegant and rich looking then you should consider the Garrison. A note of caution from experience: If you have more than 1 fan in your home made by the same manufacturer with similar remotes, even if the fans are different, change the remote codes on 1 of the fans. My Garrison came with the same remote as the fan in my DR and unfortunately I left both remotes set to factory defaults. The remotes operate both fans, which I thought would be a good thing if I lost or broke one of them. But, even though the fans are far apart, in different rooms, turning the lights or fan on or off in one room does the same to the other fan. I wish my TV remote worked this well. Check the install instructions. The remote control and the remote unit in the fan have identical, small, 4 slider switches that controls the remote frequency. Each of the 4 slider switches can be in the up or down position. Both my fans came with all 4 switches set to the up position and I left them that way. To change the frequency just move any slider to the other position on both the remote control and remote unit before installing the fan. For example, if 1, 2, 3, and 4 sliders are all set to the up position, just slide #1 to the down position ON BOTH the remote control and the remote unit (or any other combination). They must match to function. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loved the look of the ceiling fan. Fully functional. One thing i noticed, the light only bright underneath vertical section. I used to have the light slightly diagonal position so the brightness is less than my old ceiling fan. October 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hampton Bay Garrison Ceiling Fan Beautiful fan! It was installed correctly. The lights worked, but it had a defected capacitor that prevented the fan from working! I called customer service, they gave some troubleshooting advice and determined that it was the capacitor housing that was bad! I now have to wait 7-10 business days to receive the replacement part in the mail! October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible light distribution The lights all point down in a horrid spotlight. It gives the room poor lighting, though bright in one spot. I am not very happy with this at all after the cost and time to install to discover that we downgraded our lighting so severely. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this fan had 2 of them for 10 years. One finally stopped working. Was so happy to locate this fan again. Great fan I have 2 in my bedroom unfortunately after 10 years one stopped working. So pleased that I was able to locate this fan again. Thinking about replacing all of my ceiling fan in my house with this one. Love it August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grand ceiling fan that looks amazingly expensive It is heavy, it is large, it's built very well. It's the Lexus of the ceiling fans. It looks amazing. For this grand fan, you'll want to have grand ceilings. IMHO, 9ft ceilings at least or 13 for the best look , else it'll hang too low and there's no way to adjust that without some DIY cutoff tool and steel pipe drilling and even then, you're cutting off at most 3 inches. Comes with a remote/receiver, but I ended up using it with a pair of in-wall dimmers (one for lights, one for the fan). Installation was easy. It installs, for the most part, just like any other fan with a light kit. Helps to have a second person help you get the motor onto the mounting plate hook. Once it's dangling on there, you can wire up all the connections. Blades are mahogany veneer. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best purchase ever love the looks of this fan. It has a great light with it. August 5, 2016
