I'm not a novice to fan installation, I've installed nine in the past two years. A more unfriendly design I cannot imagine. You have to install the blades before installing the light kit. The light kit is attached by 3 tiny 1/4" long screws that require a long screwdriver to reach because the light kit's housing extends 3 inches from where the screw-holes line up with the fan. Big problem, the screws were not magnetic thus wouldn't stick to the end of my screwdriver AND I needed my other hand to hold up the light kit to align the housing to the fan! I finally had to use hot-melt glue to hold the screws to my screw driver. I finish the installation. I turn it on; it wobbles. The manual says that if the blades each measure from the ceiling with more than a 1/8" deviation from each other that you are to call the manufacturer for a new set of blade-brackets. Mine were deviated as much as 1/2". So I called and ordered a new set. Time to install them - aw dang, I have to remove the light kit before I can disassemble the fan blades. Then, of course I have to hot-melt glue the screws again to reassemble. What a pain. I finally reassemble and just like the others, the new brackets and blades are deviated, this time by as much as 3/8" from the ceiling. The wobble is as bad as ever. I have NEVER spent so much time trying to get a fan up and running. Horrible engineering. Terrible manufacture. I will never buy this fan again.

Home Depot asked for a review only weeks after I bought the fan so it is difficult to assess quality. So many reviews these days seem to cite failure after a short period of operation. I have installed 5 ceiling fans in this house and I will tell you that this one seemed the nicest. There is a ring that snugs up against the ceiling that gives a much more professional appearance. The wiring also seems to be better as the connectors seem to be higher quality. Time will tell but all indicators are that this will be a good investment...

I purchased this fan for my back patio, and was very pleased with the quality of construction, the overall look, and the relative ease of installation.

This was my first ceiling fan installation, and it went pretty well. This fan went in place of a porch ceiling light that was controlled by a single wall switch, so a remote was purchased at the same time. Also, since the porch's light fixture had a weaker plastic box, I replaced it w/ a braced steel box (made for retro fitting).
As another reviewer(s) said, installing the 3 little phillips head screws that hold the light kit up onto the fan wasn't fun, as one hand is needed to hold the light kit up and compress all the wiring up into the housing while aligning the 3 radial screw holes. The other hand is needed to start the screws w/ your driver. Unless your driver tip is magnetized, use tape to hold the little phillips screws onto the driver tip.
I flipped the wall switch to "On", pushed the remote, and everything worked. But it didn't push much air. Found it was turning CCW which is upflow, so I found the direction switch on the side (covered by a rubber boot), moved it to CW (downdraft), and got a nice cooling breeze. I also installed LED bulbs in place of the CFLs due to winter weather performance. Also, it's nice having a dimmer (w/ the remote) to tone down the two 820 lumin bulbs.
If there's a knock against the finished product, it's at the opening between the ceiling bell and the drop tube. You can see the wiring inside, so it's a great place for wasp nests. It should have a rubber boot over it. I just stuffed it w/ fiberglass insulation.

Happy with this fan. For about $100 you get a very quiet product. Installed it myself, but somewhat difficult to assemble due to very small screws. I finally used tape to hold them on the screwdriver. Oh, it does have plastic blades, but you can't tell when you sit under it.

I purchased this product at Paramus/Hackensack Home Depot location in a new sealed box but when I installed it at my house following all the steps exactly as per the installation instructions the light wouldn't work and I ended up bypassing the light switch/pulling chain and did it directly to the electric supply wire. It works but I have to plug and unplug it from the outlet every time I need to turn it on, since the chain switch feature didn't work. Not sure why this happened.
