I have added a link to the installation guild for this fan. If you look at page #5 you will see the correct installation steps to attach the canopy to the motor housing.
It will still be approximately 6"-8" lower than a flush mounted fan.

Yes they carry extension poles in the lighting department. You will probably need to lengthen the wires from the fan to the electrical box.

I needed a 12" downrod, so I checked both in store and online at Home Depot. I only found a grand total of two 36" down rods in all the Hampton Bay fan listings. I ended up using a Hunter fan extension that was close enough in finish for my purpose. I don't recall whether Hunter had a 48" rod listed. I think you will have to lengthen the hookup wiring provided with the fan if you find a 48" rod. The Read More

I think you will have to lengthen the hookup wiring provided with the fan if you find a 48" rod. The other potential issue with a long rod is the whole fan assembly oscillating at the end of the rod when running. That is generally caused by unbalanced blades. I lucked out with my fan as each blade assembly weighed exactly the same on my digital scale. Read Less

Answer:
Though they look similar all models have their own specific design and color scheme. For example the Gazebo II Brushed Nickel finish come with Black/Silver blades, the Natural Iron Finish with Walnut/Mahogany ABS blades. The Weathered Bronze and the White Gazebos only have one finish on the blades. Please call our customer service team at 855-HD HAMPTON for further assistance.

Answer:
Yes if you install a receiver prior to installing the fan. HD sells the universal remote that works with Hampton Bay fans. I much prefer turning fan/light off and on with fan remote instead of yanking on pull chain which sometimes gets stuck mid-pull. Plus if remote goes bad, it's cheaper to replace than the fan.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Perfect lighting & cooling breeze for outdoor kitchen. August 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Looking Fan I put this fan in the same room as my gaming PC, PS4, and Xbox One. I needed something quiet that blew a lot of air on me and my gaming machines. Especially when wearing a headset, it can get pretty hot. I love this fan because the light fixture is covered so the bulbs don’t blare you in the face when you stand up. Installation was pretty easy. You just hang the motor to the bracket that you screw into the wall prior and do the electrical connections. The most laborious part was screwing in the fan blades while the motor is hanging from the ceiling. Also it was kind of a pain to screw the light fixture into the unit. It only goes in one way. The black switch on the side of the base coincides with the square cut out on the fixture. If that makes sense. Overall I am much happier with this fan than with my previous flush mount designed fan that made so much noise. I can now game on the hottest days with comfort. September 7, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ordered 3 of these fans on-line..No problems! Great fans! Great fans, nice looking and shipped as promised from on-line order. Didn't need all 3, return to the local store was simple! September 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not very attractive The fan itself is fine but we needed the light as well. After we installed it on our porch, we decided we just couldn't live with the look of that light fixture. It is glass as described, but looks just like a cheap white plastic bowl. We returned the fan and found something better. August 23, 2016
