I have installed about 25 fans over the years and this was hands down the most difficult. I can't fairly rate the quality since I just completed the install. The difficulty came from items like understanding the directions, perhaps that my problem but never had problems in the past, very small screws for the light canopy and a small space to install them. Wouldn't have been too bad except my magnetic screwdriver didn't hold the screws, it picks up a ten penny nail so don't know what they were made of, and getting the blades on. They have a tab that you should b able to hold them in place, however, with the screws in the blade they are deeper than the tab. Put the screws flush so the tab will work and they fall out. Took way to long to install two of these fans.

Two biggest problems: (1) installing the blade arms to the motor, and (2) Installing light fixture to the switch housing. The instructions should suggest it takes two people to install the fan because you're working from a ladder located beneath the fixture - and it often required 3 or 4 hands to hold the fixture in place during installation. It was a pain in the rear!!!!! One more thing, the fan blades are cheap looking and flimsy.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mike DON'T BUY HAMPTON BAY GAZEBO FANS!!!
After less than a year of being installed, the globe broke without provocation. For no known reason, the globe simply cracked and fell to pieces! There is NO WAY to get a replacement without purchasing a complete new fan. Buy any "real" brand name, not Home Depot's store brand!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bl1979ta Defective - returned to store
Purchased 6 fans to install in our new home. We loved the style and great price, but when I went to install, the first fan had a faulty wiring harness and pull switch, and the second fan had an unbalanced motor with an internal tick. I packed all 6 up and returned after wasting a few hours of my Saturday. We really wanted these to work. Ended up ordering another brand and will see how it goes.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CBCYAustin Perfect Outdoor Fan, 10 Min Install!
We would have rated this as excellent, however it appears one of the two fans we purchased was a store return or had been opened and had some slight damage to the lamp housing. That said, it was not worth the effort to return it since these are not carried in-store and the price was very good. We just mounted the damaged part of the housing facing outward so it is not easily seen.
To that end, these fans install in minutes! The wiring is simple, and the lighting kit is pre-wired with a plug and go adapter making that step a breeze. The lighting unit and fan are also fully enclosed, preventing the collection of bugs and dust vs many other outdoor fans with open/bowl type lighting fixtures or unsealed dome type lighting.

My application is external, outside on my patio. I needed an all weather, durable, product that could mount flush. I have had two of this model installed since June 2013. They are fabulous. Easy to install. The flush mount puts the bottom of the light at about 12 inches below the ceiling. I have not experienced any problems.
