can you use a longer down rod ?.
Asked by: GeeGee
Yes, you can install a longer down rod, probably available from Home Depot. However, you will probably need to lengthen the wires from the fan, depending on the length of the rod you want to use. Fairly easy to do, get some of the same or better wire, (observe the color code), splice them in, and feed them through the down rod. Use good crimp splices, and offset them so they are not side by side, making more room to run them through the down rod.

Can this Fan be used in a screened porch

It states on the box "For Indoor Use Only". Can it be used in a screened porch that has 2 sides fitted with insect mesh and has no A/C.
Asked by: Mick
While this fan is specified for indoor use only and is neither damp nor wet rated, it should be fine in a dry covered enclosed patio environment.

Can this fan be used with 6 foot downrod?

Asked by: bandit12296
Yes, a 6' downrod could be used but the lead wires are only 54" so an electrician would need to add wires for the installation.

Assembly Height and Remote

Assembly height says 52 inches is that right? Also, can I use a remote for this??
Asked by: Confused
The assembled height of the unit, from the bottom of the light kit to the top of the motor housing (with no down-rod installed) is approximately 12-15". The 52" dimension you asked about is the measurement from the tip of a blade to approximately the tip of another blade, the diameter of the circle the blades will cut through the air. My fan has no provision to respond to a remote control.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible time The far, so far, is fine and working. I had to go back to the store three times because items were missing. My handyman was very nice as he waited for me to go back and forth to get the box corrected. It was ridiculous. The manager was excellent. The last time the globes were missing and she allowed my workman to put up the fan while I took the box back to show that they were missing and got globes from the original box which was missing parts. Apparently the first box, someone brought it back and it had issues with the fans - they were not in good shape which should have been noticed and HD ship it back or damage it out. Time consuming to say the least. I was not happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from replaced similar fan with this one I left the ease of installation blank because our electrician did it. He didn't complain so I'm assuming it wasn't out of the ordinary. The 40 watt CFLs that came with the fans(bought 2 of the same fan) are REALLY bright. I use only 2 of the bulbs in the small spare bedroom and only 1 in the small TV room. Both rooms about 12 x 15 sq feet. We had to replace the fans because the light kits that came with the original fans blew out. The fans worked fine. The wiring in the old fans is no longer compatible with the new wiring in the updated light kits. Happy with everything.

They are generally of good quality and easy to put up. This one is no exception. It was delivered perfectly, easy enough to put up and it works fine with little or no wobble. I have mine on dimmer switches for both the fan and the lights. I find that unless I turn the fan switch full on, there is a slight buzzing noise which I find annoying. I have learned that by turning the fan full on, I can vary the speed with the pull cords on the fan itself and avoid the buzzing noise. I also replaced the CFBs with dim-able LED bulbs of a comparable wattage. So, all is well. It took a couple of minutes of experimenting to figure all this out. In the end, all is well and I look forward to using a great new fan this summer.

This is our fourth (4th) Hampton Bay ceiling fan in our home...that is to say we now have four (4) total in place and running (as we speak). We have installed all four ourselves following the very easy instructions that accompanyied the fans. We have chosen Hampton Bay each time as they are primarily maintience free (less the occantional dusting off)...we have had our oldest Hampton Bay for approx. 20 years now and it is still running great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hampton Bay Glendale 52-inch brushed nickel ceiling fan This is a beautiful fan, easy to install. It moves a lot of air especially when set to the highest of 3 speeds. My only recommendation for improvement is that the manufacturer provide additional lengths of the fan's pull controls in the bushed nickel finish. The pulls that came with the fan are far too short for a person of average height to reach, and I found that The Home Depot stores do not carry either the add-on chains or the connectors in brushed nickel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan for the money We have several of these fans. I purchased one today and had it up in the dinning room in less than 45 minutes. Purchased a drop rod and extended the fan 18" from the ceiling. Very easy to convert. Simple installation and wiring. Fan comes pre-wired with 2 feet of power wires. Lights put out plenty of illumination for the area. Couldn't ask for a nicer fan at the price. Puts out plenty of breeze. Looks nice.

Could not find the same type/model and had to settle for this one as a close match. Did not come with remote, so we had to purchase one. All in all, this is an average fan. It is way too slow on the high speed. Our original 6 are much faster. I'm disappointed with this one as it compares to our other Hampton Bays and the price was the same.
