Answer:
This is made primarily for floating floors. The install tools or tool kit is required for the installation. if you install it as a floating floor You will not need a bonding agent or glue fort he installation. The rule is with moisture barrier the installed it is a floating floor. How does a floor that has expansion gaps and transition strips for runs over 35 feet allow you to bond it down?

Answer:
Truthfully no, but I do recommend you buy the tools separately. My husband looked at the installation kit and the tools in them were just not as sturdy as the ones you can buy separately. Due to the large number of square feet we put down we are very happy we bought separately.

I used the Roberts felt pad with plastic backing. It gives the floor some cushion and sounds solid like a wood floor. It was similar to MP Global Model# QW100N1HD. After almost 2 years the flooring is the same as it was when installed.

Answer:
You have to use underlayment. They say that, just like with carpet, the better underlayment gives a better feel underfoot. We spent double what the basic underlayment costs and have been happy with it. I could tell it was better (quieter, mostly) from testing it in the store.

Answer:
Although underlayment is optional, it does have many advantages. Underlayment can ease in sliding the boards together during installation, help to minimize minor subfloor imperfections, increase sound deadening properties from walking and from floor to floor (2nd floor/main floor). For more information about underlayment, please refer to specifications of the underlayment of your choice.

Answer:
I have had laminate flooring (smooth) style in my kitchen for 7 yrs now and I have not had a problem with it getting wet. If something does spill I just wipe it up. I have 4 dogs and 3 grandkids. I love my laminate flooring. I think that if you take good care of your floor then it shouldn't be a problem. I have a sub-floor, meaning plywood under my laminate flooring with padding.

Answer:
This product is not waterproof but can be installed in a basement (moisture barrier underlayment is required).
When installing product in a wet area such as a bathroom, it is best to seal the joints during installation by applying a small bead of water repellant sealant to the top of the tongue. Once the flooring has been installed, seal the expansion space with the water repellant sealant also.

To prevent damage, take precautions to prevent unnecessary moisture flooring from staying in contact with the flooring. Wipe up spills/splashes, do not allow damp/wet things (towels/mats/clothes) to sit on the flooring, and use an exhaust fan to allow excessive humidity to escape. For a basement it may be prudent to carefully monitor and control humidity levels. Read Less

Answer:
It is better to buy stair material made for stairs. Home Depot sells a selection of wood look stair caps that cover and will look like wood stairs. Get with Home Depot for details. It is a little pricey but would really finish off the look of a hardwood floor.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 50 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by we looove this floor!! We needed something inexpensive because we were replacing the floors in our dining room, laundry room and kitchen... I was looking at a similar floor to this but it would have cost over $2000! When I found these and looked at the customer photos I was sold and I ordered them right away for 1/4 of the price!! And I love them!!! We had no problem installing them by ourselves (just my husband and I) and only had 1 board with a broken tongue on it - which we were able to use anyway once we cut the board in half. I'm considering ordering more for the bedrooms. 100% I would buy this again and I've already recommended it to my friends :) Oh, and I've definitely dropped a lot of sharp edged things on it already and no scratches at all!~! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Completely Happy We had about 1500 square feet of flooring to replace and knew we wanted to do away with carpet. I found this product and after reading all the good reviews I thought we would give it a try. So we ordered a box and seen how it would look in the "lights" of our home. We ended up loving it and installing it everywhere but the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry area. We have loved it. We have had it down for a few months now and it looks fantastic. It looks as though we paid four times more that what we actually did. My only complaint is that when ordering any single boxes they came in with quite a few damaged, but none were from the pallets we ordered. We had very little waste and after you find your "rhythm" the floor goes down very quickly. I am attaching some of our photos, excuse the mess where we were moving things from 1 room to the next to do all the rooms. May 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase. This laminate flooring is beautiful! Installation was a little hard due to crushed corners and we had a few unusable pieces due to damage on the snap together parts. But for the price we paid at .99 cents a square foot we were pretty happy. And the finished product looks SO nice! I would recommend this product to people with patience...it takes some time to get the pieces together! :) Purchased twice: First we updated our bathroom and laundry room. Second time we purchased for our spare bedroom. They all look fabulous! April 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful floor- delivery sucks I ordered this flooring without actually seeing it. I went off of other people's reviews and I'm very happy with my choice. It's a beautiful flooring and it is exactly the look I was going for. I'm still in the process of laying it so I don't know how it actually holds up. I did have trouble receiving my order in a timely manor. I had to speak to someone at Home Depot 3 different times about my freight not coming in on time. When it finally arrived some of the boxes were delivered damaged. August 9, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by You Can't Go Wrong If you want a quality floor, this is it. The look and feel of real wood at a fraction of the cost. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than expected! Floor was easy to install. Durability of laminate has been amazing. No scratches from the dog running and sliding on it. No spot stains from water drops on the flooring. Product is worth every penny. Looks great. May 19, 2016
