Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by paintedhouse Does not fit a regular lightbulb
Bought 2 of these for different rooms in my house. One installed fine, no problems, and looks great. However was missing the rubber that cushions the bottom of the glass and metal.
The second one, was a disaster. The bulb does not fit. Quality control issue. Some measurement is off. The bottom of the glass hits the light bulb, and you cannot close the light shut. We tried everything.....added an extra washer, shaped the metal.... you name it. Went to the store to exchange it, all of the ones at the store had the same problem. We even asked the lighting guy and electrical expert. They had no clue why. We searched for a shorter bulb, but there was nothing available. So we told them we just want a return. Disappointing. Home Depot should contact the vendor as this is a huge quality issue......

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by veetechie For the price these look great, and really fit the rustic style of our new remodel.
The installation of this light was pretty straightforward. It came packed to be flush mount, but we opted to use the 5" extensions. The conversion was pretty simple, and the instructions show you how to convert should you need them. For an outdoor light, it does seem that the enclosure is not tight enough to keep the bugs out, when they decide to invade. I put a 40W bulb in and they (we bought two) really give that "rustic" feel on our front porch. If the enclosure was more air tight/anti bug, I probably would have given this product a five star rating. There's a lot of glass there to show everyone walking under how much the bugs like your porch lights :). Looking at comparable products on the internet, these fit the design at a Very reasonable price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gromit02 Great cosmetic design, but lacks in insect collection problems...
I agree with veetechie and Barb about the drawbacks. I love how it and the matching sconces work together, and I have no problems with the sconces -- they're perfect! I love how all lights project the lighthouse motif against my siding and with their design -- except that the globe on this light collects dead bugs; and very quickly (in the Minnesota Summer) too...and since it's difficult to service the light, that makes it quite inconvenient. I only have one of this model over my house's entry (and four sconces around the house) but it takes a tall ladder to empty the globe on this fixture (the sconces have an open bottom, so bugs fall through). And since it's easy to lose attachment nuts and washers to clean out the globe, it makes cleaning out somewhat problematic!
I installed clear bulbs in all fixtures so the ambiance is there whether the lamps are on of off, and the effect has drawn many compliments! I think bug repelling bulbs would ruin any aesthetic feature with this fixture.
I am looking into open-cell foam sheets to create a filter, but am concerned about creating a fire hazard. A friend suggested metal screen -- but as an engineer, I haven't figured a good way to add that but still retain the fixture's assets.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mm Looks good, but
1 - product is not as pictured. Glass is clear, not frosted
2 - regular bulbs do not fit. a shorter bulb is needed. still trying to find one that allows fixture to be closed properly
3 - bugs

For a 19' entryway ceiling this was a terrible choice. We had to hire a electrician with a tall ladder, only to realize a couple of month latter that the lamp was full ob dead bugs. No we have to rehire someone to remove it!

Product info says it is sealed and bug resistant...not true. We have to take a ladder out to our front entryway and take the glass down at least once a month to clean out all the buts that get inside! It does have a mini seal, but obviously not good enough to keep bugs out. It looks terrible with the bugs...and block out the light that we want our guest to be able to see by.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terry Poor quality and workman ship
Tack welds on lantern cage flimsy and prongs not straight. Had to straighten one prong so that cage would fit into roof hole opening. Also rubber strip that custions the glass globe into the lantern cage not on properly.. had to reposition it. Very difficult to change light bulb since globe is large and to have to remove the cage from the top, must have ladder. Now wish I would have taken it back to Home Depot except the store was 45 miles away. One last item - Cost of Lantern advertised as $77.97 however the State College, PA store charged 79.97 hummmmmm

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Flyfisher Nice details. Gives a nice glow to the porch when you use a 40 watt lightbulb. Quite charming and classy
We wanted to update the light fixtures on our newer built house, and wanted something that looked a little nicer than builder grade. We really like the aesthetics of the light fixture.
This style would work nice on a prairie style home, a cottage style home, an arts and crafts style home, or a farmhouse style home.
Suggest you use a 40 watt light bulb to give a softer glow at night; still gives off plenty of light for safety.
Would recommend this light fixture. We've received a lot of compliments on these.
