The fan is made in China. The instructions, they too are made and written in China. Some of the graphics don't match up with what is being (or attempting to be) said in the written instructions. Page 4 of the instruction guide, step 1. "Connect the ground cnductor of the 120V supply (this may be a bare wire or a wire with green colored insulation) to the green ground lead(s) of the fan (Figure 6)." Cnductor is conductor.
As for missing parts... Previous experience buying Hampton Bay fans from HD have always proven to be missing something important causing repeated trips to HD for replacement fans. I knew that I was going to be missing something this time around and sure enough, I was missing all the electrical nuts. Fortunately, I have those on hand. I was also missing 3 screws/washers to secure the fan blades to the fan. Again, I used the screws and washers from the fan I was replacing.
Regarding ease of installation, it was not as easy as you'd hope. Because this was a flush mounted fan the decorative housing engages several mounting points on the chassis of the fan thus forcing the housing to become flush with the ceiling. I have a feeling that my ceiling in the area where the fan was to mounted had a differing densities of skim coat resulting in a difficult mounting. The person I recruited to help me with the install insists that the guide points on the chassis were off. I noticed that one of the points was seemingly off, but I think my mounting issues were really related to the skim coat on the ceiling.

hard to install and the light switch is not very sturdy. You have to pull on it 2 or 3 times for the light to turn on.

This ceiling fan I had about a year and I have had a lot of trouble with this fan. The first problem was that the chain got stuck when I pulled the light chain and I had to fix that and the light is not bright at all but the air amount is really good but if your looking for a fan with a lot of light then I wouldn't recommend it to you

Have this fan Hampton bay Hawkins ceiling fan blows a really good amount of air but the light kit isn't the best and my chain got stuck through the bowl light kit and had to get another pull chain . I would recommend it if u had some can lights or another light . But if u want more light this fan I would recommend to u to get.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Outdated lighting technology
The fan portion of this unit provides good performance. But the documentation with the fan indicates that the candelabra base on the lighting unit only supports incandescent bulbs. No product sold today should require incandescent bulbs, so the value rating and the overall rating cannot exceed one star.
Bad judgement on the design, bad marketing for Home Depot.

Bought one year ago, recently decided to use pull chain ( the one located in the center and controls lighting ). Before was using wall switch for this task and maybe played couple times with chain at the beginning. Anyway, this time for some very "weird" reason, as I mentioned above, decided to use it again...well......that was not wise decision. Switch inside is broken - conclusion of electrician.$45 for replacement. More economical would be to buy a new one. If company does not want customer to use pull chain please instruct to do so.
