I was very happy with the three of these fans that I purchased back in March 2015. The product looks great and the fans work great. Fast forward about 13 months and all three light kit pull chains switches no longer work. I can't even pull the chains - almost like they are jammed.. I think the manufacturer has a problem with the pull chain switches because all three light kits broke practically at the same time - all three the exact same issue. Since I didn't purchase the two year protection plan, I have now paid $45 for three replacement light kits. If my house was wired with two wall switches to control the light and the fan, the problem probably would have never presented itself. Unless you purchase the wireless remote or your ceiling fan is wired for two wall switches so the fan and the light can be controlled independently, I would not recommend this product.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Not enough air
The install was not difficult for me and it's fairly quiet but the blades are not low enough relative to the ceiling which prevents air from circulating downward. There is only 6 inches between the ceiling and blades and you need at least 8-10 inches for optimum air flow. I'll be returning this one for a different model.

When the wifey and I saw it was said it's worth a try. So I installed it the same day. I installed everything and did a test to see if the wires are correct. And it worked. Once I tighten everything down, it shorted. Now I need to take it apart and return the thing. Anyone else's have this issue?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by kaf Very pleased with this purchase
I love the appearance of this ceiling fan/light. Because of the amber-ish shade, it gives off a lovely, soft, moody light, which is perfect for the room in which it was installed--sufficient for watching TV, knitting and conversation. Be advised that this same feature makes it not the best lighting for reading. I paid to have the fan installed, so I can't speak to whether it was easy or hard to do.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cybermark1 Whisper quiet
Some of the larger fans of this brand are noisy, but this Hawkins is whisper quiet. No electricity noise and no click or clang noises either. It's so quiet that it's hard to tell which pull of the chain is off. On louder fans you can tell because the electricity noise will be gone after that pull. Puts out enough air for me too.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mr16 Poor design
We purchased 2 of these and upon installing we noticed that the cords for the light and fan are faulty. They get caught and will not function. 3 months after installing and one just quit working, lights and fan will not work anymore.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cali19 Not bright enough for bedroom and will be returned
This lamp takes 3 candelabra style 40 watt bulbs. Once installed in the bedroom, it seemed more like an accent light, with corners of the room still cast in shadows. Since the max watts is 40 I tried to find LEDs that would fit with lower watts but more lumens. I could not find a bulb that would physically fit in the fixture and thought this could also be a problem in the future if I can't find the exact bulb that came with it. The bulbs that came with this fixture are very small considering it is a ceiling fixture. Also, it is a hassle to get into this fixture to change the bulbs and then get it back on. Not that easy for one person.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by emiliahjones Beautiful fan
We love this fan. It is beautiful and works well. It makes a huge difference in the attractiveness of our living room and definitely keeps us cool. The only catch is that it didn't come with a remote. We purchased a remote separately; however, the fan + remote combo don't enable full use of the fan speed and light dimming. It's more of an on/off remote, even though the remote has 3 speeds for fan. So, I don't know if that is the failure of the installation or the fan.
