I had an old Hampton Bay fan that broke down on my and decided to buy the same type to hopefully simplify the install. My only positive comments are that the fan looks good and is fairly quiet.
The first problem was that the shroud that goes around the ceiling mount is about 1 or 2 inches smaller in diameter than the old Hampton Bay shroud so I had to touch up the ceiling paint in my old house.
Next, it is very difficult to get the fan blades into position within the shroud and screwed into place on the motor. In addition I had to cut the gasket material between the fan blades and the motor on two holes because it was not lined up and was preventing the screws from going in. After probably 20 minutes of trying to get the blades installed I realized they were rubbing on the shroud. I took it all back apart and found that the motor wasn’t perpendicular to the shaft. I took the motor back to Home Depot and luckily they exchanged it for a new motor out of another box. Remounted the motor and attached the fan blades to the new motor; no more rubbing.
The next step you have to take out some screws that hold the light sockets to the fan, why were these not just provided in a bag with all the other hardware? I then found that the plate the lights mount to was not perpendicular to the motor shaft. It was not as bad as earlier but it made removing and installing the last screw difficult. In addition the light housing has a large rectangular capacitor that is tapped to its inside; it had been tapped over the screw hole at the factory. I moved the capacitor and then had to move it a few more times to find a position low enough so it wouldn’t impact the plate it was supposed to being getting screwed to.
In total I probably spent 3 to 4 hours trying to mount the new fan; this does not include the time for the second trip to Home Depot.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Glen A good fan with a few issues.
I liked the first fan so I decided to install the same fan throughout the house. There have been a few issues. There have been three fans that have had a metal tab holding the glass shades break off. This has occurred even though no one was handling the fan or lights. The second item was on the last fan I installed. A bad lock washer was installed on the motor shaft at the factory. The lock washer over lapped so it didn't sit flat when torqued down. This caused the motor to be tilted. I had to remove the shaft from the motor, cut the washer, then reinstall the shaft to the motor.

Fan was fairly easy to assemble. Biggest issue is location of screws over motor cover being too close to the ceiling. Couldn't get screw driver on screws without turning against ceiling. Otherwise, fan works fine.

This fan is kinda noisy, loud enough to annoy you when watching TV. It clicks and clanks when the light is off. With the light on the noises get better. Sounds weird, I know, but it's true. Had this installed by a friend who is an electrician, and he has installed hundreds of fans, so I'm thinking the install was done correctly. He put in another of the same brand that is very quiet. The quiet one is a Hampton Bay Hawkins 44 inch.
