No, if you mean the standard light bulb. You need the candelabra base.

It hums and vibrates, but the fan doesn't turn. The slower the speed setting, the more it hums and vibrates. The light works fine. Called the 800 number on the instruction sheet, and he said the motor is defective. Now, I have to take everything apart and unwire it from the ceiling to return it to the store. Otherwise, I liked that the blades had different wood finishes on each blade, but the finish needed touch up on the edging of 2 of the blades. Suggestion: For the instruction diagrams, instead of using the multiple letter wire designations with a text paragraph matching the letters to the wire colors, just put the wire color name in the diagram.

It was meant as a replacement for the one I bought 8 years ago, but I found I could replace the light switch inside the fan base. I decided to replace the switch inside the base and returned the ceiling fan. I found out about the switch when I accidently went into a Lowe's store looking for the Hampton Bay ceiling fan. It was pretty funny when they told me I would find the ceiling fan at Home Depot! Embarrassing!!!

The Hollandale 52 is beautiful , works perfectly , and not too tough to install . This fan has a great finish , and runs smooth as silk . I really like the enclosed shroud over the motor . We are using in the kitchen , and this reduces dust and grease buildup on vents . The 4 light kit gives plenty of brightness to the work areas all around .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan for a great Price. In all honesty we hired a handyman to install this product (we are just not mechanically inclined and we know it) and he was done in about 30 minutes. I liked this fan becasue of the ease to change out lights when they burn out. Has the pull switches so no worries about losing the remote. Price was extremely good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad wiring The fan looks lovely but the wiring is horrible. After installing part of the fan we turned on the power to see the motor spin freely. Then we assembled the blades and the light kit as instructed. We turned on fan and nothing happened. We disassembled it and found loose wires or bad connections within the motor.

They were easy to install and they look great in our home. I especially like how the globes are screwed in securely from the inside instead of little screws on the outside. We would recommend them to everyone.

This fan was a replacement for a Hampton Bay that has served me since before 1992. It's lovely and so quiet! Does a good job in my 12'x12' room (8ft ceiling) on low setting. I much prefer open windows with fans rather than A/C.
