Shortly after purchasing this fan, I found that it was discontinued but I decided to write a review anyhow in case someone else has purchased it recently and has a similar problem. The fan is so beautiful but the motor makes a humming noise due to the transmitter and built in dimmer feature. If you ensure that your transmitter setting is right however or can wire it without the use of the remote than you can rid the noise. I was about to send it back because it was discontinued but its so pretty and since I bought it at half the price I'll try my luck and keep it.

I love the look of this fan, and it really is silent even when the fan is on high. Due to the weight and complexity of the whole device, it cost me a small fortune to pay an electrician to install it. I didn't mind that though because the fan is so gorgeous. However, even though we only installed it less than six months ago, the light kit has failed. The electrician who I paid to fix it today said the whole receiver kit has failed and I need a completely new fan. Very disappointing. Due to this, I can no longer recommend this fan.

Took less than an hour to install. Weighs about 40 pounds. Be sure to check the remote code first. I failed to do so and the remote was also controlling a fan on my second floor. You'll be able to change it afterwards but it's a bit difficult if you have poor eyesight.

I purchased this fan less than a year ago. While I love the look, the light kit has failed twice. I have replaced the transmitter both times, at my own cost, as it is not covered and now the transmitter has failed a third time. The lights flicker on and off, but the fan operates properly. I would not recommend this product. Very disappointed.

The quality of the very quiet motor, the dimmer on the lighting with memory is quite a treat. You can turn on the wall switch and it remembers what intensity the light was when you turned it off, which means you can almost use it as a night light. I added true light bulbs (the little blue ones) and the lighting through the globes is so nice they sparkle. This fan is very heavy compared to most so you must put a brace in the attic if there isn't one. I will never buy anything else.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lara Don't forget to buy a 9V Battery for the remote
I installed this myself. I am pretty handy and can figure things out well - however the instructions were not as specific as they should be. The unit is very heavy and surprised me a bit. Some of the teeny tiny screws were easy to drop and hard to get in while holding the light kit part in place. I wanted a single bowl pendant type light on this fan so I bought a $40 Hampton Bay light kit to install - it was easy and completely compatible. Good thing too because one of the four glass shades had arrived broken. This is a beautiful fan and looks perfect in my 1870's Victorian home. I had to complicate things by installing it within a ceiling medallion. To make it fit I had to use my dremel to cut away the outer rim of the upper ceiling plate. Worked perfectly. Be sure to buy a 9v battery for the remote because the light arrives in the off position and will not turn on without the remote. I thought it was broken (fan worked but no light) and had gotten so angry - then I bought a battery for the remote and it all worked fine LOL.

I have only had problems with this fan. The controler stop working during the first week. I go the replacement that I had to install in the fan. Now the motor has stopped working. It makes a noise like its trying to start but nothing happens. Before it stopped working it would make a squecking noise. A lot of money to pay for a fan that has so many issues. I have Casablanca and Hunter fan that I have had for ten years, that are still working fine.
