It does come with a remote, I believe you can adjust the remote frequency to match other similar remotes.

Answer:
Hi Nancy, this fan comes with a wall control unit. You can set the wall controls individually. You will need to set the dip switches differently for each additional fan.

How do I fix a Hampton Bay Lake Alice ceiling fan that doesn't have a high speed anymore?

This question is from Lake Alice 54 in. Brushed Nickel/Brushed Steel Ceiling Fan
Asked by

My house came with two of these fans in the same room. One works fine, but the other lacks the high speed and runs medium on the high setting. Is this a capacitor problem or a problem with pull-switch settings for a hidden pull-switch behind the light module? Are there instructions for disassembling it and fixing the problem? Is there any kind of manual available for this fan that shows how the parts are assembled and how to get to the capacitor or the pull switch?

I have found that once these motors start to go then there isn't much to do to fix them and the company most of the time want you to ship the fan to them and then they will either repair it or replace it. Of course, this leaves you without a fan/light during this time unless you purchase something else and put it up. As far as the owner's manual for the fans, there was one that came with the lights but Hampton Bay may have one online or maybe they can send you one. Read Less

Hi Steve, I reached out to the manufacture to get you an answer. Here is what was found out, They did confirm that the customer would need to bypass the receiver. They said if once the customer takes the receiver out and the fan shows a high speed then it is the receiver that is the issue. If they take the receiver out and it still does not spin very fast or at all then the issue is the capacitor.

When you take the receiver out, in order to bypass the unit, you need to hard wire the fan. Then turn the fan on, this is what will tell you if it's the capacitor or the receiver. Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice fan very nice looking and operating fan. Note you have to use the remote unless you buy a specific wall switch that controls speeds. July 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Good, But Noisy Installed was relatively straight-forward, but the lack of a temporary holding bracket that most fans come was a big snag. Had I not rigged up my own, there would've been no way I could have done the job alone. The fan is very pretty and the blades look nice in spite of them being plastic rather than wood. The light is bright, but shines in a more concentrated "cone" than our old fan with traditional globes did - which we knew to expect. But the big catch is that after just 1 season, the fan has developed an annoying whine that's ever-present, regardless of the speed. I had considered purchasing this same fan for another room in my home, but the noise changed my mind on that. December 11, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Classy Light I had check several fans and when this light went on sale at half off I was pleased and ordered it right away. After waiting a couple of weeks on hubby to get the time to put it up, I was really looking forward to using my new fan/light. He didn't have too much trouble putting the fan up and it looked great. The light was nice and bright and I was so excited to see how the fan worked but my happy story ends here. Tried several different things to get the fan to work but nothing, nothing, nothing. Hubby said the motor seemed to be locked up and upon looking a bit closer at the light we notice several places around the fan section that looked like someone had tried to work on it prior to us to fix it. I'm not sure if this was a returned fan or what but very disappointed. On a good note, I was able to return it to Home Depot with no problem. April 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome fan!! I love this fan! So much so that I just ordered another one for my upstairs game room!! Installation was a snap! It looks great, moves some serious air, and the light is bright!! Only thing you should be warned about is that the specs say that it comes with a wall mount controller and not a remote. This isn't true, it has no wall mount and it DOES have a remote...And I would definitely recommend a fan with a remote over a wall mount that is at installed on the light switch. (Had I noticed this when I ordered it, I probably wouldn't have bought it since I wanted a remote.) The remote works great and it has a dim switch for the light. Which is very nice since the little light is very bright at full power! This fan is very quiet and doesn't "wobble" at all. I highly recommend this fan!! August 29, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great! It looks gorgeous in our room and the brushed steel adds a rich touch to it. It is right next to our kitchen that has stainless steel appliances. My husband had a bit of a struggle hanging it as it is heavy and he needed a 2nd hand to hang it. We haven't used it other than to see if it works as we have not moved into the home yet. HD shipped it out in good time and it had all the parts necessary. I liked it so much that I ordered 2 of them at what I though was a good price. It also has a nice bright light. August 28, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for price Very easy to install. Comes with a remote - not a wall switch. Blades are plastic but have a nice finish and look good from the bottom. If your looking for a good quality low price fan this is it. April 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Products looks great and comes with a remote. Satisfied overall, but box came and was not sealed on the bottom. Nothing was missing. April 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very happy with this fan Had to replace our fan when when we changed furniture and decor for our main living area. Had narrowed my choice down to 3 - so glad I got this one! April 8, 2014
