Answer:
No!!!! That low hum is very loud!! We were very disappointed in this fan!! Hampton Bay Usually makes great fans but this one is terrible. It emits little to no air circulation as the blades do nothing to move the air and the motor would keep anyone within a house awake even with the door closed you can hear it.
Inexpensive and now we know why. Terrible Purchase!! Taking it back and getting a Hunter!

You can hear a slight humming sound of the motor when turned on but it is very tolerable. Not as quiet as the bigger fans.

Answer:
The only way that this fan can be mounted is flush. Not sure what you mean about hardwiring to a switch. As opposed to connecting it with an extension cord? It should be hardwired to be installed properly.

Answer:
Yes, this is a flush mounting fan. Do not use a solid state dimmer switch. All other switches are ok to use with this model.

Hi Puka, this fan is as flush as it can get. Also you can wire this fan to a wall switch. Check out optional wiring options 6 and 7 of the installation guide.
Hope that answered your question.

Answer:
I have the same fan-the max bulb is 60 w. The bulbs specialty bulbs and burn out very quickly. If I had to do it all over again, I would NOT buy this fan because the bulb is not a standard size. I replace the bulb every 2-3 months and it doesn't get that much use.

The kit does not come with a cap to go in place of the light kit, but I suppose you could contact Hampton Bay to see if you could order one from them.

According to the information in the description, this fan must have the light installed - there is no "cap" to cover the wiring.

I'm not sure if you can get it without the light, but you can use the fan part and not have the light on and visa versa along with having both on at the same time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 122 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very loud hum and doesn't move the air This fan is noisy!! It emits a low motor hum that you can hear thru a 2 story house even with the door closed. No one would be able to sleep with that humming noise. The blades also do little to nothing to move the air about as they are not angled. Terrible fan. I have always like Hampton Bay but they made a real stinker with this fan. It cost almost nothing and now we know why. Taking it back and getting a HUNTER! Hampton Bay you lost my business and i will never recommend another fan of yours! September 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by An "ok" fan for the money I bought this fan because it was on sale, and was fairly inexpensive. The only drawback is that it didn't come with a balancing kit like most fans do, and it wobbles slightly & makes noise. Despite trying to straighten out the blades several times, it still makes noise but it does keep us cool at night, so it's better than nothing! September 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cheap, but not worth it The manual stated that the humming noise would go away, but it didn't... still hums and now it wobbles every so often. September 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect and great price Goes great in my daughter room. Only downfall was you have to put an LED light in order to get some brightness. But it was a defiant great buy. March 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed I have had to replace three of these fans in the last year, in my office. One of them came out of the box making noise, one would not even work, and this last one wobbles and makes noise. Do yourself a favor, buy a better fan. July 29, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very Loud Very easy to install, looked nice, but very loud on Medium or Low just a steady Loud Hum, Taken off the Blades and tried same issue, Going to take back to Homedepot and upgrade to the Middleton for $10.00 more and see if it's better. August 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad, not great. The fan was easy enough to install, but there are two significant issues. 1. There are no labels for "fan" and "light," making me guess every time. 2. The switch stopped working within a few weeks, making the 3 speed fan a 2 speed. I haven't yet received a reply from customer service for a warranty replacement. You get what you pay for I guess. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works fine Nice fan for a small room. Does the job for the price August 16, 2016
