Hello, I have a German Shepherd and want to know if this flooring holds up against large dogs and their nails. My dog likes playing in the house so he runs and "slides" a fair amount and I just want to make sure he won't scratch this flooring. Thank you!

Laminate flooring has come a long way in 30-40+ years it's been around. I've been in houses that have solid hardwood floors ( oak, maple and even pecan ) and those floors look terrible after just a few years with any size dog(s) in the house.
With your Shepherd, don't even think about hardwood floors. Laminate is the way to go. Read Less

Hi. Thanks for your interest in this product. Laminate flooring (although indentation resistant) is not necessarily scratch resistant. In other words if I were to take a scouring pad to the surface you might see some light surface scratches but not heavy indentation type scratches. There is a product called "Soft Paws" which are silicone nail covers for your pets clause. After wearing them for a month or so they eventually just wear through to your pets claw at which time you replace them. This can help your dog from sliding if so desired as well as protect your floor from surface scratches. That being said laminate flooring is extremely durable and beautiful and can last you a very long time when properly maintained. Read Less

There are various levels of underlayment quality. Typically the better it is the better it will be to reduce fatigue. However there is no major fatigue benefit with laminate flooring underlayment such as there is with carpet padding. My best recommendation for underlayment for you would be Trafficmaster 100 sq. ft. 3 ft. x 33.34 ft. x 1/8 in. Underlayment with Attached Vapor Barrier. You can search on www.homedepot.com using SKU 1001220617. It is $0.50 / sq.ft. or $49.98 for a 100 sq.ft. roll. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive Haven't installed yet, however…my contractor is impressed with the quality and value of these planks. The color is realistic, and the tongue-and-groove appears to be sturdy, which bodes well for a solid click-lock application. Very well packaged. Will submit a follow-up with photos at the completion of the project. So, this review is "to be continued". March 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value laminate flooring! This flooring not only looks great, but it was very easy to install! The wide, long planks covered lots of area making the installation a breeze! We have installed laminate before, but this was the easiest to snap together and looks great! It is very true to color and appears to be very durable.. Only time will tell..we cut it on our rip saw and power miter saw..but it dulls the blades. After 600 square feet, we will need new blades to go back to normal woodworking. December 15, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Really looking forward to installing this flooring but wife didn't like it Flooring arrived at HD in a timely manner and was well protected for shipping. We carted it home and opened one package to gauge the look and feel of the flooring. The finish is somewhat matte, almost like it has dust on it. Cleaned several planks and realized that, that was the final look. The texturing looked a bit too regular as well. i.e. too "manufactured". We brought it all back to return. The wide planks would have made the install go quickly. March 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and easy to install I happened to get this flooring in sale from their deal of the day. I'm so glad I did. The picture doesn't do it justice. It has beautiful grain and knots. It's so easy to install! Read all directions before starting! There's no tapping this floor in. We did receive damaged boards. I did not want to wait another 2 weeks for them to come in, so we used the damaged pieces on the ends. Make sure you order extra! I ended up with 1 board leftover. It looks beautiful in our living/dining room. March 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Flooring review Easy to install, looks good, product was as described March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and looks great! The wide long planks made it super easy to install! Looks great! www.ClarksvillePropertySolutions.com February 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stuff Can't speak for the installation, but installers liked it compared to 8 mm Pergo. Locks with plastic on ends and sides for a sure fit. Non-glossy finish doesn't show dirt or prints as much. It is AC-4, super pleased with the look, pretty close to real wood. Been in for 2 months, no complaints. A lead crystal bowl dropped from 4' did chip a chunk out about 1/8" deep, but it was a quick repair close to a corner. January 24, 2015
