I am automating my home with the Wink Hub and I heard Hampton Bay was going to have an option for their fans to work with this soon. Will it be an add on option that I could use on existing fans such as this model, or will in just be built in on new model fans? I currently own 6 Hampton Bay fans in my home, including 2 of the Lyndhurst model. I really don't want to have to buy all new fans just to integrate them into my home automation.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in the Lyndhurst fan. The Lyndhurst can not be custom ordered with Oak blades, but you can order the oak finish blades as a replacement item by calling customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678). The oak blade set can also be ordered online (model# 8239204902).

Answer:
Either an 18 inch or 24 inch downrod. My ceilings are 10' and I went with an 18 inch and there is still over 7' clearance between the floor and the bottom of the lights. I would probably get the 24 inch drop since your ceiling is higher.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. For an 11' 4" ceiling, we would suggest an 18" or 24" downrod. Any of the downrods sold at The Home Depot will be compatible as long as it is 3/4" (.75") in diameter.

Answer:
First and most important, you need to know the diameter of the downtown required. I think it's 3/4". It doesn't matter what company makes them all the threads are the same. I would go for 18" long.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Warranty is not what they claim Lifetime warranty? No. Home depot won't take your broken fan back and hampton bay won't either. My fan is 14 years old and works on one speed. Went to my local store they don't except returns on warrant claims. Ok so what do I do? They will give you hampton bays 800 number. Call hampton bay and explained a three speed fan only works on low speed. They said the lifetime warranty is for the motor only. Ok my fan has thee speeds but only runs on low. Hampton bay said its only covered if the fan motor is froze up. Since yours works on low the motor is still good. If you don't stand behind your product you should only offer a 30 day warranty. Do yourself a favor buy a fan that the store stands behind and the manufacturer. This is not what it claims to be. January 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice fan, poor instructions This is a nice looking fan with 4 standard light bulb sockets. If you want a little extra light, 4 bulbs does help. The glass shades are clear with some white frosting. One of the reviews mentioned that they were yellow, but mine were clear and white. Installation should have been easier, but the instructions are poor. First of all, the instructions do not tell you what length down rod you should buy with the fan. I have a 10' ceiling, and a 12" down rod worked for me even though an 18" down rod was recommended in the store. One of the reviews said that the generic down rods sold in the store do not work, but this is not true. The generic down rods with the threading on the end work fine. The threading goes on the bottom into the fan. There is a pin that goes through the 2 holes to hold the fan to the rod. The only problem is that the included 4" down rod has a ground screw that is too big for the generic down rod. You will need a #8 machine screw if you want to attach the ground wire at the top of the rod. Another review mentioned that you should attach the fan blades and light kit BEFORE you mount the fan to the ceiling. This is RIGHT, but it might be difficult to do without damaging anything. It is very hard to attach the fan blades and the light kit AFTER you hang up the fan. Also, there are some shipping screws that must be removed before attaching anything, but the instructions do not mention them. Last, the instructions do not mention how to wire the fan if you are using separate wall switches for the fan and the light. There are separate wires. You just have to send the black wire to the fan switch and the blue wire to the light switch. February 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Electical cables too short We have high ceilings (two story). I bought a 5 foot down rod from HD along with the ceiling fan according to the associate who helped us. When the electrician came to install, it was discovered that the electrical cables were too short to go through the down rod. To not lose my installation money, I had to go to HD and get a 3 foot down rod (much too short). Now we have a ceiling fan too high in our den. Very unhappy. HD associate should have known since he sold us on it. HD suggested extending the electrical cables (which the electrician said violated code. HD associate agreed). interesting they have the model hanging in the store with a 5 foot down rod. nothing wrong with the fan. cables are just too short. December 8, 2015
