Answer:
My understanding is that the fan has sealed bearings which means there is nothing to oil. The only suggestion I can offer if it didn't squeak before is to check all the screws on the fan blade brackets (to the blade and to the motor) and make sure they are tight.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The fan has sealed bearings and can not be oiled. Some reasons for squeaking include loose blades, or light shades. Please make sure all parts are completely tightened. Another reason could be the ball/downrod not being seated properly. If none of those issues are applicable, please call customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of our team members will Read More

In the Specs under Mounting Options it says that you can. I still wonder though how low it'll hang when flush

I am automating my home with the Wink Hub and I heard Hampton Bay was going to have an option for their fans to work with this soon. Will it be an add on option that I could use on existing fans such as this model, or will in just be built in on new model fans? I currently own 6 Hampton Bay fans in my home, including 2 of the Lyndhurst model. I really don't want to have to buy all new fans just to integrate them into my home automation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cooler summer nights This fan is perfect for my bedroom. It is so quiet and keeps the room so cool and comfortable all night long. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Greatt fan! The fan is easy to install, quiet, emitts good light and is stylish. June 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I'm a fan We hung this in our living room which has a 45 deg sloped ceiling. This is only made for a 30 deg or less slope, but we were able to make some adjustments to get it to hang right. We love the look! And it's providing great circulation. We would buy it again! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Wobble, problems getting it resolved Experienced serious wobble at all speeds, especially high. Called 800 number and was sent balancing kit which had no effect. Called back and requested replacement blades as I could easily see by measuring distance from blade to ceiling that one blade was heavier than the others. Agent sent wrong blades even though she verbally confirmed my model as well as taking the UPC code and receipt info. After a month of wobble, now waiting another week & a half for a correct set of blades to arrive. May 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Fan I have a vaulted ceiling. Although this fan had an extension rod which should have accommodated the ceiling, it did not. It wasn't long enough to lower the blades so they didn't hit the ceiling. I had to make another trip to Home Depot for a longer extension. After two trips, the fan is up and very pretty. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lots of air, beautiful. Easy to assemble, and shake free`. ?.............. April 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Fan I have learned to follow instruction step by step and did with this product, however, the initial steps included hanging the light with the small extension bar, so I did. Then I flip the page and it tells how to assemble WITHOUT the extension, which is how I wanted to hang it. I just figured you HAD to use the bar, so I had to undo those steps and start over. There should have been something up front that indicated you could do it either way. Then again, it helps to real ALL the instructions before you start. Also, installing the lamp covers was not easy and I dropped one in the process and it shattered everywhere. However, I do like the simplicity of the design, no little thumb screws to tighten. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Recommendation & Tips The fan looks great, has zero wobble, no hum, and is one of the quietest fans I have which is perfect for where it is located. I swapped out LED bulbs for the CFL bulbs that came with it, which is no problem since it is a standard medium base. An 18 inch new bronze downrod from HD worked and is almost a perfect match to the fan color, and from the floor they look exactly the same. Right now it looks great and produces ample breeze and very glad I didn't pay more for a fan probably made in the same plant. Tips: Directions were about the norm and not real helpful if you have never put a fan in but if you have put a few in, it is not difficult. The screw for the ground on the short drop that comes with it doesn't fit the purchased downrod. Not a big deal if you save leftover screws like I do but it may prompt another trip if you don't get one to fit when you buy it. Color of the screw doesn't matter since it is hidden. Don't attach the light kit until you have the blades attached. I hung it first, then attached the blades, then the light kit, but you could put it altogether on the ground first and then hang it to save your shoulders and less climbing the ladder, just realize it will be heavier and more difficult to hang and you probably should have someone hand it to you. If I had help, I would have done the latter. The only issue I had with what was in the box was a screw that was stripped out by the manufacturer. Again, no big deal since I was able to get it out and later use it. March 6, 2016
