Customer Questions & Answers

Is this model able to be installed without the lights attached?

Asked by: Charlie
I don't believe so, based on the fact that the lights are integrated into the switch housing of the fan.

Aim Lights ?

Are the lights movable ? Can they be directed to the four corners of the room ? What would be the max size CFL bulb that could be used ? What is the approximate cost for replacing an existing identical fan with this new one ?
Asked by: Gopherguts
Hi Gopherguts, sorry the lights are not movable so they can not be directed. The max size CFL light bulb is at 14 watt (60 watt equivalent). You would have to check to make sure your local Home Depot will install ceilings fans. Some locations have changed. However you can also use a company called Red Beacon to install you fan. You would have to contact them for pricing. Here is a link to Red Beacon. http://www.redbeacon.com/

Asked by: mariner
Thank you for your interest in the Lyndhurst ceiling fan. Not all fans are adaptable to longer downrods, but most are. The Lyndhurst is compatible with an extension downrod.

Lyndhurst 52 in. Indoor White Ceiling Fan is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 429.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great PUrchase I had to have wiring installed when I got these fans, so I did not install them, but there was separate wiring for the fan and the light. And you can add a remote. The fan is quiet, and I've had them for about a month and 1/2. I've ran the fan constantly and it is still quiet. I got the white ones, they were very reasonably priced. Great purchase. Not sure what king of lights came with these, they do not warm up, they are bright right away. they are spiral, but don't need to warm up. Which is great. They are very bright and light up the entire room. I ordered 3 fans and for some reason, one got lost by UPS, Home Depot was great, they rushed the 3rd fan and it arrived in time for the electrician.

The only issue I have with the item is that after installation a couple of the CFL bulbs that came with the unit do not work properly. The do not come on when the light is turned on unless I tighten or loosen the bulb. I can't tell if it is the bulbs or the sockets they screw into. I am reluctant to tighten too much because the bulbs are fragile to tighten. I am wondering if I can bring the bulbs to HD for exchange. If it turns out to be the sockets, that will be a different problem.

I had it installed in 'ceiling hugger' style to cut down on noise and vibrations. It was ordered to replace a very noisy fan and I am pleased that it is operating quietly and smoothly. It's not particularly beautiful- it is basic, but it does the job and was a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value This fan was very easy to install. It looks great in the space and moves a lot of air even on medium. Had to switch from updraft to downdraft, as it came in updraft mode from the factory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good fan for a great price. This fan is a very good fan for an excellent price. I have no reservations about its operation or appearance after installation, which was not difficult; this was my second ceiling fan installation. No ceiling fan balancing kit was provided, but for $2 you can pick up one at Home Depot or you may wish to order to have it on hand when installing. We added a Hampton Bay Comfort Breeze Wall Control Remote, which adds some nice controls to this fan at the wall, without a "wandering" remote control to keep track of. Please note that the Hunter 12" downrod (and likely all other lengths) works just fine for this fan; I could not find a Hampton Bay downrod.

The fan looks nice but has a couple issues. 1st, to get it to dim you must replace the CFL light bulbs that come with it. 2nd is apparent design issue - got a pop noise in computer speakers on the same circuit when the fan is turned to high and low voltage lights on that same circuit blink on when fan speed is changed. Electrician who installed it tried two different switches then connected direct and used the pull chain on the fan and determined it was the fan, not the electrical wiring or switch causing the problem. Electrician thinks the motor frequency (?) was causing both problems.
