Answer:
No, you do not have to use CFL bulbs, but the total light wattage must be below 190 watts. This means you would have to use 40Watt incandescent.
You may want to use LED bulbs which would give you a greater light output and use less watts than a CFL bulb.

Answer:
Yes. We installed a universal remote, and it works fine. Keep in mind that if you use the curly provided bulbs, you can use the dimmer. I think if you replace the bulbs with regular bulbs, you can set the remote hand control to use the dimmer. Using the existing bulbs makes the light very, very bright. Fine for me, but may be too light for others.

Maybe there is a Hampton Bay cap that would cover 4 pin plug wires?
Without purchasing other items no, as the fan would look weird with 4 holes where the lights use to be.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great PUrchase I had to have wiring installed when I got these fans, so I did not install them, but there was separate wiring for the fan and the light. And you can add a remote. The fan is quiet, and I've had them for about a month and 1/2. I've ran the fan constantly and it is still quiet. I got the white ones, they were very reasonably priced. Great purchase. Not sure what king of lights came with these, they do not warm up, they are bright right away. they are spiral, but don't need to warm up. Which is great. They are very bright and light up the entire room. I ordered 3 fans and for some reason, one got lost by UPS, Home Depot was great, they rushed the 3rd fan and it arrived in time for the electrician. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Value for money for Fans Fans were delivered on time and Advantage (Mike and Frank) were quick in installing them. The fans being less than $50, value for money. The installation is expensive, I felt. The only drawback I felt was that we were told that if we will use these fans on high, there is a chance that the blades will bend in like a year or so due to air pressure between fan and ceiling. There isnt enough air on low or medium setting unless ac is also set on high. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ceiling fan shipping was on time undamaged easy install had it installed in a half hour. March 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great This fan works great for the prove I played. Would get it again. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement for very basic fans previously in house We purchased 2 fans to replace the ceiling fans in our master bedroom and guest bedroom to match the fan a handyman previously installed in our daughter's room. The fan was pretty easy to install, the only issue I really had was making sure all the wiring did not rub on the moving parts of the fans (this was the source of a noise we detected when I first tested it out. Fan is quiet, looks nice and provides good air movement. Price was great in comparison to replacement fans we put in our tv room. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ceiling fan Great fan, changed the lighting out for LED and provides very good lighting as well, easy to install, simple instructions- great price for what you get too!! August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cumbersome to install This fan is good looking and seems like it is a good value. However even though it would seem easy to install, the design of the fan makes it very difficult and frustrating to install. In addition don't expect to be able to install a remote with it as the receiver is too big to fit into the fan. I attempted this with a Hampton Bay remote with no luck August 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed This fan looks nice, went in easily BUT it doesn't move as much air as I thought it would. Disappointed that it doesn't create more airflow. August 11, 2016
