Customer Questions & Answers

Will this fan and light set work with only one pair of power wires? I do not have separate switches on the wall for fan and light.

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. Our old fan and light were on separate switches. This one works with one switch and the remote controls the light and fan speed.

what size battery does it take?

Asked by: mariesm
A very odd-size. I would have to look it up in the manual because it was one I had never even heard of! You can download the manual from the Home Depot site.

Have been looking on line and have read two separate reviews mentioning different battery sizes.
Asked by: mariesm
Battery wasn't included. I had to go to Batteries Plus to find it.

Had some problems with the remote functions, customer service was GREAT sending us a new part for the fan and replaced the globe do to a hair line crack. Problem was we had to take the fan apart to install the new part. Not loving the silver blades may paint them white later. Lighting is NOT good for the kitchen. We have change bulbs but still too dim. We have had this fan for about 2 months. I don't think I would buy it again for a kitchen that needs really good lighting.

It's the quietest fan - even the electrician who installed it commented about that. The style is subtle and appealing, with clean lines, a modern look. I was concerned that the low wattage of the light would be a negative, but turns out to be just fine.

I loved the look of this product but it does not do a great job keeping the room cool, the top setting is still not enough to move the air well in a med. size bedroom. After 4 years of use it also started making an intermittent clicking noise when the fan was running. So now we are having to replace it.

I purchased this fan in August of 2015 and it stopped working October of 2016. The electrician said, to contact the manufacturer and the manufacturer said, it was past the year warranty. I would never buy this fan again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont buy 1. It makes loud noise 2. when I lower the speed for fan, the light automatically becomes dim 3. Some time fan don't easily switch the reverse 4. hard to turn the light on and off some time 5. high speed is like medium or low speed of table fan. I bought 4 fans, I took it down few times to adjust to get rid of noise, it works for some time and after day or so it comes back so very difficulty to easily adjust the mounting. if you install this, you will need external light as the light is not bright enough to come 11x12 room. I am doomed as I installed the fans and not that easy to pack and return. bottom line, its good looking fan but when it comes to usage and performance, its not worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value; clean, sleek design I'm very happy with the performance of the fan which runs quietly and smoothly. The light with the recommended 3 40-watt bulbs isn't intensely bright, but is adequate at max brightness. This fan looks good in my 1950's ranch house, and is a big improvement over the old fan it replaced in that I don't have to yank on ugly chains any more. Installation tip: If you have another Hampton Bay fan w/ a remote, change the DIP switches before completing the installation if you want to control the fans independently. (Apparently, they all come from the factory with the same settings.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Fan with Pros and Cons Measured power consumption (with lights off): motor off, 10w. Low, 35w. Med, 40w. High, 45w. Not in specs. Pros: Good quality, quiet, aesthetic design. It remembers settings when power turned off. Cons: The expensive rare 12v battery for the remote is not included. Its three 40w incandescent candelabra bulbs are power-hogs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty but design doesn't last After 2 years the blade arms bent downward and started scraping the light cover. Can't have the cover on it anymore. Parts are not warrantied, only the motor.
