Answer:
Just bi-pass the reciever in the fan and it will automatically be at full speed and full light. Make sure you hook up the right wire to the light and fan controls because they work at different frequencys. Also make sure your light dimmer is dimming the right kind of light bulb or it won't work.

Thank you for your interest in the Maxwell fan.
You can omit the remote control and use a dual wall control switch. we would recommend the Lutron Skylark 1.5 Amp Single-Pole 3-Speed Combination Fan and Light Control - White. The link is included for your convenience. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lutron-Skylark-1-5-Amp-Single-Pole-3-Speed-Combination-Fan-and-Light-Control-White-S2-LFSQH-WH/100059262

Answer:
Hi NJL18. The receiver for this remote control is built into the fan so bypassing (or omitting) the remote is not an option. The remote control is a full function remote meaning the fans direction is controlled by the remote as well as speed and lights.

Hampton Bay makes a wall mount universal remote that will work with this ceiling fan. It's mounted in the wall, but it's a remote that has a high, med, low fan,and fan off setting on it as well as a light off and on button.

Answer:
you must have a metal junction box in ceiling - 4 inch square or round and it must be secured to a brace (2"x4") or the ceiling rafter. Then attach the base to that box, after that it is easy. The base has a hook attached and you hang the fan motor to it while you connect the electric wires. Then connect the motor to the base.

The specs say that the total height is 12.8 in. Is that the actual height to the bottom of the light? If not, what is the actually height from the ceiling to the bottom of the light?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Fan We purchased this ceiling fan to replace an older failed one and had it professionally installed by a local electrician. Based on the time it took him to remove the old one and install the new one, assembly and installation was not at all difficult. Since the old fan was pull-chain operated and it separated from the fan, we decided to try this remote controlled unit and so far, it has been great. The Fan speeds, On/Off, Light and Dimming are all remote controlled and the only criticism is the light fixture. The globe that comes with it causes the light produced by three 40-watt lamps to be quite dim but we plan to replace these with three 60-watt LED lamps. Be careful, though! The first pack of lamps that we purchased, at Home Depot, were in a 3-Pack and seemed ideal. But, when I read the labeling more closely, I saw that they were "...not to be used in a totally enclosed fixture..." So, they will be exchanged for ones that do not have such a restriction. Now, it remain\s to be seen if this fan matches the 20 years that we used the now defunct Panasonic ceiling fan?? July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely happy with this ceiling fan! Ceiling fan was extremely easy to install. It took my husband about 45 minutes to remove our previous fan and hang this one. It looks great. Super quiet. Great value for price. February 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased... I needed a remote fan, bought this one based on high reviews. I am very pleased. It is attractive, quiet, and seems to be of good quality. I did have it professionally installed along with some other work I was having done, the electrician seemed to have no problems installing it. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy I am a do it yourself person with five bedrooms with ceiling fans. So I have put in quite a few ceiling fans this is by far the easiest one I have ever done. It seems like they specifically went out of their way to make things convenient easy and simple good fan easy install works well June 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan! This fan was a replacement for one that we had in our living room. While it's hard to tell how something is going to look in real life just from looking at the photo on the website, we took a chance with this fan--and we couldn't be happier. Installation was simple, the fan itself is gorgeous, and we love the fact that it has a remote....no chains or strings hanging down! It's practically noiseless and does a great job of moving the air around. Highly recommend this fan to anyone! May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan/Poor light kit The light kit is totally wrong for this fan. If you buy a 52 inch fan, you have a large room to cover. The provided light kit, at maximum setting on the remote, could be called a night light at best. The 52 inch fan I replaced had lights that would completely brighten the living room. The fan is very quiet, and does it's cooling job to rate 4 stars. May 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Good Looks good with decors in house. Purchased two and they were the look we wanted. May 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for a good price We ordered this fan to replace an old, noisy, wobbly fan in our den, and we're very pleased with our purchase. We hired an electrician to install it, as I no longer do anything requiring a ladder. He installed it quickly and easily, with no problems. The new fan works perfectly, is quiet and stable, and the remote control makes it a breeze to use. Perhaps best of all, it was less than half the price of the fan we installed in our bedroom, but it's every bit as quiet and stable. It was definitely a good buy. March 29, 2016
