Answer:
Unscrew the glass dome, unscrew the bulb, screw in the new one. No tools needed, but since the bulb is halogen, you should wear a glove or use a piece of cloth to keep finger oils from causing hot spots on the bulb, shortening bulb life.

The 100W halogen bulb is located under the white glass cover. The glass cover has threads that engage the housing that holds the light bulb assembly. Looking up from underneath the fan, you have to rotate the glass cover counter clockwise to remove it (righty tighty, lefty loosy). Once the glass lamp cover is removed, you can unscrew the halogen bulb and remove it. Just remember to turn off the power first and to not touch the replacement bulb with your bare fingers. The lamp operates at a very high temperature and oils from your skin will damage the bulb and shorten its life. I either use a latex glove or slip my hand into a plastic bag before handling the bulb. Dispose of the old bulb by wrapping it in the packaging that comes with the new bulb. The glass cover is replaced by carefully screwing it back into the metal housing until it is snug but not overly tight or you might have trouble removing it next time. Make certain the threads are engaged and the glass cover is fully screwed into the housing before you release it. If the glass cover is stuck and does not want to turn; gently tapping it with your knuckles can help free it up. Read Less

Hi dave,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site.
The glass globe of your light fixture will unscrew off as if the globe is the jar and the light kit's metal base is the lid of the jar.
Hold the light kit securely and grasp the globe and rotate the globe counter-clockwise to remove it.
Thank you for asking,
-Travis

The switch is on the top of the fan housing so it is necessary to be able to reach the top of the fan to activate it. The remote does not have the capability to reverse the fan (although that would certainly be a nice feature!)

I'm not happy with the light from the fan. It is dull and never bright enough. I was thinking of replacing the halogen bulb with a 100 watt incandescent bulb. Is that possible? What would the maximum wattage be?
I do like the fan, it's operation, style and ease of function. I'd just be happier with a brighter light.

We like our fan too but you cannot replace the halogen bulb with an incandescent as the bulb socket is incompatible. The supplied halogen lamp is actually much more efficient than an incandescent bulb would be. It produces more lumens per watt. It also runs at a higher temperature and internal pressurized halogen gas keeps tungsten atoms from leaving the filament and coating the inside of the glass bulb over time like an incandescent bulb (which in time darkens the glass and reduces the light output). If you need more light in the room, it is suggested that you add additional can lights to your room ceiling since this is just meant to be an accent light and it is probably unrealistic to expect it to be the primary source of room lighting. CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 43 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Modern-looking quiet fan This is a nice clean modern looking fan. Two were bought and my contractor had to change the frequency so they would turn on and off independently. The light isn't as bright as the old one that had four regular light bulbs but it's still a bright enough light for us. Fan #1 had a 3 foot extension added it that makes a clicking noise just on the highest level. I'll ask my contractor to try to fix this. Fan #2 does not make a noise at all so it must be the extension. That being said both fans are super quiet and the air flow is strong and my contractor had no issues installing it. The remote feature is nice since I didn't want any chains hanging but the remotes came in black and the fans are white. I knew this from other reviews but bought it anyways since it's not a deal breaker for me. But the company should change it to match. All in all I'm pleased with my fans. August 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Fan so far Pretty nice looking fan for my son's room. Typical install like any other fan I've done before, no real surprises. My only complaint would be they give you a lot of extra wire that needs to be hid in the top part. Doesn't seem like much but it was a little bit of a pain to jam all that wire in there and screw the top base back on. Overall we really enjoy the fan. December 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hampton bay fans Hampton bay fans are very nice. we have them all over the house and work great for many years. love the remote option January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ceiling Fan Has all the functionality we want: quiet, good remote, white color. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice and sleek I purchased 4 of these for my optical shop in hopes they wouldn't stand out with them being white. They create a good amount of blow and it is always nice having a remote. They look modern and blend in with our white ceiling. Hampton Bay has never failed me. Great product! June 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Fan & Easy Installation Ordered this fan online and it was delivered very quickly. The installation was simple and straightforward. No problems of any kind. The remote works as advertised and even dims that light (dimming capability was listed as "NO" on the website). I'm extremely satisfied with this ceiling fan and the entire process. September 24, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This fan looks good but disappoints. Install was easy until I got to the blades which took over 30 minutes because the pilot holes in the blades were so difficult to line up with the threads. After that frustration was over the final straw was that the remote doesn't control the fan well at all. Instructions say to run the fan for 15 minutes which I did. Then I switched on the light but the dimmer did not work. Light dimmed but would not brighten. Then the remote would not turn the light off or change the fan speed or turn the fan off. So I turned off the power at the switch to reset everything. Still nothing. With the power off I climbed back up on the ladder and made sure the antenna wasn't crimped. It was not. The fan was so much trouble getting installed that I hate to remove it but it goes back to HD today. A couple of pull chains would be just fine for me since my ceiling is not extremely high but the fans with pull chains are not stylish at all. I'll order a Casablanca. Sorry Hampton Bay. May 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for low ceilings. Quiet and looks great. I'm a big fan of ceiling fans but our house has eight foot ceilings and I'm 6'2", so I've been using room fans instead. After staying in vacation rental with eight foot ceilings with fans installed, I decided to go for it as soon as we got home. When using the close installation method, this fan is perfect. It looks great this way too! There is so much less noise than our previous room fans and no floor clutter. My wife loves the clean lines of the fan and the "transitional" decor style. We sleep with it on high and it keeps the room nice and cool. It's not as fast as some of the previous fans we've had, but works very well. Although some have complained about the install, I thought it was pretty simple. It took about the same amount of time as other fans I've installed in the past. I'm no expert and this was pretty darn simple, just the usual steps, which take time. I think I had it up and running in under an hour. The light puts off enough room light, about the same as our previous light fixture, but I wish there was an LED option, rather than the halogen T4 bulb. The dimmer option is really cool too. The remote works well, but I may install the light switch version, we'll see. I intend to buy three more of this exact fan for my other rooms once they go back on sale. Very happy with this purchase!
