Can you use a 24" down rod with this fan

Asked by: texan22
You will need to find someone to fabricate downrod extensions because none of the commercially made downrods are the proper diameter for this fan.

Some suggestions: The instructions say to add the fan blades and light fixture, after you've put the fan's ball, at the top of the pole, into the socket of the bracket that holds the assembly attached to the ceiling. DON'T DO IT! Save yourself a lot of grief with the following: Follow the instructions to the point of where you're supposed to mount the fan and start the electrical connections. But instead, attach the five brackets that hold the fan blades to the motor; do not attach the blades yet. Next, attach the light fixture to the fan, but not the glass bowl yet. Now you’re ready to mount the fan in the ceiling bracket socket....But before you do, I suggest applying some lithium grease to the ball and socket to prevent any friction. Once you mount the fan and make the electrical connections, you may now install the fan blades, which is stone easy---you’re mounting the blades from the top (I’m assuming you’re on a ladder) instead of underneath trying to put in a whole blade and its bracket and trying to find the screw holes to secure them. Now you may fit the light bowl and complete the job. One other thing, get some plastic wrap and lay it inside the canopy and atop the fan motor as a precaution against dropping a screw as you work…there isn’t much finger room in the canopy to recover a small screw and you don’t want to drop one into the holes atop the fan motor. It’s a great fan and quiet to boot. There was one snag though; the off portion of the On/Off switch on the remote didn't work. I called Customer Service on Thursday, May 4th and received a replacement today Monday the 8th..really quick service. So good luck and enjoy. If you come up with your own suggestion, share them with those that follow.

The remote installation was the most difficult part, as it has been on just about every fan that I have installed. it is very quiet and the air flow is very good. The only negative issue is that the remote does not reverse the blade direction. you have to use a ladder and do it manually.
